Model history

In November 1967, the Mercedes-Benz 250 SE was replaced by the improved 280 SE model. The new 280 SE was powered by a 2,778 cm³ M130 engine, which achieved an output of 160 hp (119 kW). Although the top speed remained largely unchanged, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h improved to 10.5 seconds - or 13 seconds for models with automatic transmission. In the interior, the car now offered optional wood veneer on the dashboard and some minor adjustments, such as new buttons for the door locking and heating levers.
