Model History

In 1990, BMW introduced the E31, the first generation of the 8 Series, which was an indirect successor to the BMW 6 Series. A two-door coupe with a V8 or V12 engine, the 8 Series was a grand tourer that BMW built from 1990 to 1999. Compared to the 6 Series, the 8 Series was considered an entirely new model class with significantly higher performance and price. The 8 Series was introduced at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 1989. As the first road car, with a V12 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, the 8 Series was a milestone in BMW's history. Due to economic setbacks, BMW launched a rare E31 version with full M equipment. Only 299 examples were produced.

A 1997 BMW 840 CI coupe with full M equipment is offered for sale in the following auction. The car was imported from Japan in 2014 and first registered in Germany in 2023. To date, the BMW has two owners in its vehicle history. On the part of the current owner it is confirmed that matching numbers are given. Furthermore, the BMW has MOT until July 2025, is registered, with German registration and in a roadworthy condition.
