Vehicle description
Model history:
The Austin-Healey 3000 was a sports car produced by the British automobile brand Austin-Healey between 1959 and 1967. The 3000 was a further development of the successful Austin-Healey 100 and featured a larger 2.9-liter six-cylinder engine that produced up to 150 hp. The 3000 has been used in many races and rallies, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, achieving considerable success. The Austin-Healey 3000 was a huge success for the brand and is still appreciated by enthusiasts today.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction an Austin Healey 3000 Mk. III from 1967 can be purchased. The roadster was imported in 1991 by the current owner from California, where the car was already extensively restored in 1989. The current owner has been the third owner for 30 years and has had the car serviced annually in a classic car workshop. An H mark is already in place and the next main inspection must be carried out in November 2023.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
A visual highlight is the two-tone paint finish of the Austin Healey. This was renewed in the course of the restoration. To get an idea of the current condition of the paint, we refer to the numerous photos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
The 3000 rolls on contemporary spoke wheels. On the front axle are disc brakes, while on the rear axle is still decelerated with drum brakes. The mounted Avon vintage tires are in good condition, as are the brakes.
Interior:
The interior of the Mk. III, introduced in 1964, is equipped with a wooden instrument panel, as well as a lockable glove compartment and a radio speaker integrated into the center console. In the offered Austin Healey, additional speakers were installed in the footwell. The black leather seats are in good condition and have only a slight patina.
Mileage
A total of four round instruments show the driver the most important values. The speedometer displays speed and mileage in miles per hour. The current mileage is 22,570 miles and is at least partially traceable. Due to the only five-digit speedometer display, it can be assumed that the mileage is higher.
Engine:
The 2.9-liter in-line six-cylinder engine delivers 150 hp and achieves a maximum torque of 228 Nm, shifting via a four-speed gearbox. The owner has brought the car for inspection annually for the last 30 years, the last service was carried out in November 2022.
Subsoil:
According to the seller, the subfloor is rustproof and preserved, but has already been welded.
Who is this car for?
An Austin Healey 3000 is a car for enthusiasts and shows its driving dynamics strengths especially on winding country roads. Thanks to the excellent service history, you can get into this copy immediately without maintenance backlog and drive off.
