Vehicle description

Model history:

The Triumph TR3 was a roadster, which was brought to market from 1955 to 1962 via the British manufacturer Triumph. The first version of the TR3 appeared in September 1955 and was built until 1957 with 13,377 units. As a novelty, the TR3 came with disc brakes on the front wheels. Of the total production, 10,032 vehicles were exported, most of them to the USA. Only 1286 units with right-hand drive remained in the UK. It is stated that 1,700 TR3s still survive worldwide, with nearly 900 in the U.S. and about 600 in the UK. In 1957, the TR3 was revised and was followed by the TR3A. This primarily modified the appearance and the car received a new, wider grille, door handles on the outside, a lockable glove box and a tool kit as standard. The appended "A" came about colloquially for "America," as this model was largely delivered to the United States. With a total of 58,236 examples, this was produced until 1962. Another source puts the number of vehicles on the market at 58,309, of which 52,478 were exported. This makes the TR3A the best-selling model after the TR6 and TR7. From today's perspective, it is estimated that only about 8,500 cars still exist. For the American market, the B version was produced at the same time as its successor, the TR4. For this model series, about 2000 chassis were used as a basis, equipped with the engine and transmission of the TR4. There are two figures for the total number of units produced. It is assumed that 3331 or 3334 vehicles were produced.

General information about the car:

Here you have an opportunity to buy a Triumph TR3 A with the vehicle identification number TS24924L. The car was first registered in 1959 and was imported from the USA. Since then, the car has had only one previous owner and has been driven accident-free in its current ownership. At the moment the roadster is registered and ready to drive. Furthermore, the car has the popular H license plate as well as MOT until April 2024. The so-called matching numbers are not given. There is no checkbook available.

Exterior color/paint/bodywork:

The car shows itself in a striking red paint dress and will thus attract some attention. In addition, the roadster exudes a special charm due to its so-called Brooklands windshield. This designation stands for an extremely small windshield on open racing cars. The car shows signs of use due to its age. The spars have been repainted in the color of the car. Matching plug-in windshields for the car are available. In addition to the hood, there is a short tarpaulin to cover the hood linkage and sidescreens ( Rollmöpse ) as wind protection. Feel free to make your own picture of the exterior. You will find detailed photos and videos of the auction in the gallery.

Exterior Rims/Brakes/Chassis:

The condition of rims and brakes of the Triumph TR3 A is stated to be in good condition between 70-90% in the current ownership. There are no known modifications or changes to the original condition. Furthermore, there is no information about any other defects.

Interior:

The interior of the vehicle features a large three-spoke steering wheel with instruments behind it, as well as other instruments in the center area of the dashboard. A lockable glove box has been integrated on the passenger side. The rear-view mirror is located in the center of the dashboard due to the special window. The seats are covered with imitation leather. Further equipment of the open roadster includes a working heater and tarpaulin. There are traces of use due to age possible. The exact condition of the interior can be seen in the photos in the gallery.

Mileage:

Current mileage read on the speedometer is 29,230 miles. According to the seller, the stated miles are comprehensible. As mentioned above, there is no checkbook available for the car.

Engine:

Due to the four-cylinder four-stroke in-line engine, the sports car puts out 100 horsepower on the road. The car has a manual 4-speed overdrive transmission. Overdrive refers to a shift gear in the motor vehicle transmission, which causes a reduction in the engine speed required for a certain speed (with a resulting increase in torque requirement). According to the seller, a high-performance starter was installed since 2018, as the old one was defective. The last service of the vehicle took place in 2020. According to the seller, various accessories are present e.g. restored radiator with high-performance network, replacement V-belt and more. /p>

Underbody:

For a look under the car, please refer to the other photos in the gallery.

Who is this car for?

Here is the chance to get hold of an American export, which is only estimated to exist in small numbers. The Triumph TR3 A is especially interesting for enthusiasts and collectors of classic racing cars.
