Model history
Visitors to the 1951 Frankfurt International Motor Show must have been literally speechless, because what they saw on the BMW stand was not a small car for the people, but a massive body of the luxury class. The newcomer was called the BMW 501 and, contrary to the design of other automobiles of the time, was launched with very individual lines. The term "Baroque Angel" was popularly coined for the 501. It was not only the luxurious interior that made the new BMW so popular - there were also a number of technical innovations, including the so-called "full protection frame", which promised the occupants full-width safety.

Der 501 der Serie 1 befindet sich den Fotos und der Beschreibung nach zu urteilen in einem guten und originalen bzw. originalgetreu hergerichteten Zustand. Die Innenausstattung ist noch die erste (!), mit gewissen Zugeständnissen an das Alter. Originalität: Verändert wurden die vorderen Langblinker mit Spiegel, hier war original nur eine Positionsleuchte in Aluminium montiert (da das Fahrzeug noch Winker in der B-Säule hatte)., ein Zugeständnis an die Zulassungsvorschrift, die Blinker erfordert. Diese Änderung des historischen Gesamtbildes wäre m.E. durch montieren von Zusatzblinkern z.B. unter der Stoßstange zu vermeiden. Außenspiegel waren 1954 noch nicht vorgeschrieben, empfehlenswert ist ein passender Klemmspiegel an der Fahrertüre (ja kein aufschraubbarer auf dem Blech !!!), da sieht man dann auch was. Das große BMW Emblem auf der Armaturentafel ist nachträglich angebracht und war dort original nicht. Ein insgesamt interessantes Fahrzeug für Sammler, ich habe einen identischen Wagen in der Sammlung (# 40 806), sonst hätte ich zugeschlagen!

Ist das rostiges Kühlwasser an der Motorhaube innen was von der Riemenscheibe verteilt wurde oder ähnliches? Danke.
Wir sind das Auto in diesem Jahr noch nicht gefahren, vielleicht liegt es daran. Es ist uns aber auch nicht aufgefallen. Danke !
Ah okay, wann wurde der BMW denn das letzte mal richtig gefahren? Wann wurde er restauriert und gibt es davon Unterlagen? Danke. Ich denke das da etwas undicht ist und das Wasser sieht nicht sehr schön aus. Mein Problem ist, ich kann vor Auktionsende nicht mehr selbst vorbei kommen.
mich würde interessieren welche Fahrgestell- und Karosserienummer das Fahrzeug hat, ob Werkskarosserie (nur Nummer) oder Baur Stuttgart (Karosserieschild-Nummer zusätzlich mit einem "B" versehen).
