Vehicle description
The Triumph TR6 presented at the beginning of 1969 was undoubtedly based on the body line already developed for the predecessor TR4. It was originally created in Italy by Michelotti and was revised again for the TR6 – but this time at Karmann in Germany. The most important thing that made the TR6 interesting for enthusiasts was the transition from the four-cylinder to the six-cylinder engine – the new 2.5-liter engine equipped with a mechanical Lucas injection system produced up to 143 hp and brought the car almost to a top speed of 200 km/h. By the end of production in 1976, almost 100,000 units of the TR6 roadster had been built.
A Triumph TR6 from the year of construction 1973 is now offered in this auction for auction. Originally, the TR6 was first registered in England, over the years the roadster then came to Austria. The Triumph has a total of 2 holders with chassis number CR20720, 2 vehicle keys are available. According to the seller, a history can no longer be submitted, but matching numbers are assumed. At the moment, this triumph has a valid Austrian inspection, furthermore worth mentioning is an existing report.
According to the seller, the Triumph has already been completely repainted in the color red. On the whole, only minimal minor paint defects can be detected on the body. Major damage or even corrosion is apparently not visible in the TR6. The canopy presents itself in crack-free condition. All chrome trim parts on the exterior are complete and in good condition. Neither on the front bumper nor on the rear bumper are traces of a parking bumper to be detected. The seller notes that the TR6 in his possession did not suffer an accident.
Original chrome-spoke wheels are mounted on Michelin tyres that are in good condition according to the seller, and the front and rear brakes can also be attested to a good condition in terms of braking. Modifications to the chassis are not recognizable.
Striking in the interior of the TR6 is the overall good state of preservation of the roadster. The artificial leather seats present themselves in crack-free condition, no large traces of use can be removed from the door panels and the footwell carpet can be discovered in an acceptable condition. Missing parts in the interior of the British roadster are apparently not to be shown. The windows are cranked up and closed by hand, the hood can be opened perfectly and closed again without any problems. The driver grabs a 3-spoke leather steering wheel and a wooden gear knob. The equipment is reduced to the bare essentials: the focus is on driving.
A real board accommodates the Triumph's watch collection: the five-digit odometer reads 94,310 miles. The seller mentions that the speedometer does not work, but otherwise all instruments in the interior do their job without any problems.
The 2.5-liter in-line six-cylinder engine delivers an output of 122 hp. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission (plus overdrive). The TR6 was last subjected to a final service in 2021. Current deficiencies in the technology are not objectionable.
A look at the underbody of the Triumph TR6 reveals a healthy and well-preserved condition. A roadster like a TR6 is small, hard, openly pure and offers high entertainment value – its problem-free handling and the in-line six-cylinder engine also make it interesting. Red on the outside and black on the inside: This literally screams for sportiness – this Triumph TR6 offered here convinces with its honest overall condition. As a right-hand drive variant, this TR6 also conveys the typical British charm.
