Vehicle description

Model history:

With the introduction of the Morgan Plus 8, the heart of all Morgan fans beat faster without a doubt: This car presented in 1968 benefited from a beefy V8 engine from Rover. Since the modern machine of the 3.5-liter class was made of light alloy and the Morgan weighed less than 1 ton, completely new perspectives opened up for Morgan drivers from now on – finally the magic barrier of 200 km/h could be broken. In order for the Morgan to cope with this increase in performance and maintain acceptable road holding, the wheelbase was slightly extended and the track width extended.

General information about the vehicle:

In this auction you have the opportunity to bid on a partially restored Morgan Plus 8 as left-hand drive from the year of construction 1976. The Morgan was delivered in Germany – in December 1976 the first registration took place. A total of 4 owners have owned the roadster to date, the first owner of which was a Morgan dealer in Stuttgart. The Morgan's chassis number is R6181. The current seller kept the vehicle for over 25 years. This Plus 8 has matching numbers and a new TÜV, which runs until April 2024. After consultation with the current owner, the Morgan Plus 8 is accompanied by proof of traceability of the mileage.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

A long bonnet and a short rear characterize the silhouette of the Morgan Plus 8: The black body of the car impresses with its extremely good condition, damage or any defects on the entire exterior are not known to the seller. The black paint colour of the roadster has already been completely renewed. All trim parts on the Morgan are still available in complete and well-preserved condition, the black hood has no cracks and apparently no deficits can be removed from the plastic discs.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

According to the owner, tires with a condition of 50-70% are mounted on chrome spoke wheels, the brakes are certified by the seller as having a condition of 70-90% of their new condition. In terms of chassis technology, no negative abnormalities can be seen.

Interior:

In view of the vehicle's age of now over 45 years, the interior condition of this Morgan Plus 8 is extremely well preserved. The leather seats are to be found in a well-groomed condition, in the entire interior are apparently no defects. According to the owner, the Morgan Plus 8 has the following optional extras: stainless steel exhaust system, stainless steel manifold, stainless steel door hinges. In addition, a perfectly preserved tarpaulin is available.

Mileage

The dashboard of the Morgan is classic black, the five-digit speedometer shows a mileage of 77,850 kilometers. According to the current owner, the total mileage of the roadster can be proven. All instruments have an indecent function.

Engine

A 3.5-liter V8 engine drives the rear wheels of the Morgan Plus 8 with 150 hp, shifting is via a 4-speed manual transmission. According to the seller, the engine/transmission unit works without problems. After consultation with the current owner, an annual service took place.

Subsoil:

The underbody is also in solid condition: rust or traces of sweat cannot be detected on the underside of the roadster. A Morgan Plus 8 offers pure purism. According to the seller, it is worth mentioning that this Morgan Plus 8 is the last 4-speed model with a narrow body, which was delivered in Germany – because from 1977 a Morgan already came with a wide body. In addition, the vehicle is left-hand drive and can therefore be driven without much change.
