Technik: Die Volkswagen do Brasil Ltda. stellte den T1 erstmals 1953 aus vorgefertigten, importierten Teilen her. Dabei wurde eine Sonderform ohne Heizung gebaut, die hinter der Fahrerkabine vier Seitenfenster hatte. Von 1957 bis 1975 wurden Kombi- und Busversionen mit eigenen Teilen in Serie produziert. Ein weiteres Modell hatte zweiflüglige Klapptüren auf beiden Seiten. Nach dem T1 wurde in Brasilien eine Mischung aus dem T1 und dem Nachfolgemodell T2 produziert. Das bis 1997 gefertigte Modell bestand aus dem verlängerten Frontteil des T2 mit einteiliger gebogener Windschutzscheibe und dem Heck des T1. Weiterhin hatte dieses Modell Trommelbremsen vorne und hinten, ab Modelljahr 1983 Scheibenbremsen vorne und eine Bundbolzenvorderachse. Einen wassergekühlten Dieselmotor gab es von 1982 bis 1984.
