Model history
- From 1954, the Barkas V 901/2 (often also called the Framo V 901/2) shaped the transport landscape of the GDR. As a versatile small van, it was produced in different variants. With an air-cooled two-stroke engine and a payload of 900 kg, it was ideal for craftsmen and small businesses. It was later further developed under the name Barkas B 1000-1 and remained in production until 1990. Despite its simple appearance, it became a symbol of East German mobility.
