The VW T1 Pritsche, introduced in 1957 as the successor to the VW Type 2, quickly became a triumphant success, with over 1.8 million units produced. This transporter was not only popular with tradesmen, farmers and families, but was also extremely popular as a leisure vehicle for camping and surfing trips. Its robustness, reliability and ease of repair made it an all-rounder in many respects. Symbolic of the economic miracle era in Germany, the VW T1 Pritsche remains a cult car to this day, combining the charm of days gone by with modern needs. As the first Volkswagen model with a rear engine, the T1 Pritsche had a formative influence on the automotive industry.
