Vehicle description
Model history:
According to its origins, the Steyr-Puch Haflinger produced from 1959 joins an illustrious series: Like the legendary Jeep, the VW Kübelwagen Type 181, the Iltis and the Hummer, the Steyr-Puch Haflinger goes back to a military tender. At the time of its creation at the end of the 1950s, it represented the ideas of the time of what an emergency vehicle should do for the Alpine emergency services. The manufacturer's internal designation for the Haflinger is AP700 (for the short wheelbase) and AP703 (for the extended chassis) - "AP" stands for all-wheel drive platform. The Steyr-Puch Haflinger was finally built until 1974.
General information about the vehicle:
Now a right-hand-drive Steyr-Puch Haflinger can be purchased in this auction as a 6-seater built in 1965, which is an import vehicle from England and has been completely restored. This off-road vehicle with chassis number 5550269 has only 2 holders, matching numbers are completely given after consultation with the seller and in addition to an H approval, the vehicle also has a valid TÜV until January 2024. According to the seller, a comprehensible story about the Steyr-Puch Haflinger is available, more than 1,000 photos of the restoration are attached to the vehicle.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
In the course of the complete restoration of this vehicle, a repainting of the body was also used, and the exterior was revised so that the Haflinger looks so good in its current condition. Due to the recent restoration work, this Steyr-Puch off-road vehicle has no inconsistencies on the exterior, according to the seller. The exact condition can be found in the further photos. Modifications deviating from the original condition or an accident can be ruled out by the current owner.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Just like the recently renewed tires, the brakes were completely new in the course of the restoration work. In terms of chassis technology, the Haflinger is apparently in good shape.
Interior:
The small Steyr-Puch Haflinger offers space for a total of 6 people in the interior: The interior is simple and spartanly equipped - that's all an off-road driver needs. All displays, instruments and controls are full of function and missing parts inside the Haflinger or coarse signs of wear are obviously not to be detected. In order to get a detailed picture of the interior condition and the equipment features in the interior of the Haflinger, we refer to the many photos and videos of the vehicle.
Mileage
50 kilometres can be seen on the speedometer of the Steyr-Puch Haflinger: This mileage is the one covered with this off-road vehicle after the restoration work. According to the seller, proof of the total mileage is also available.
Engine
In the rear sits the two-cylinder heart of the Haflinger: The air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine has a displacement of 643 cc and delivers 27 hp in this Steyr-Puch. The gears are engaged via a 4-speed manual transmission. A final service took place in September 2022.
Subsoil:
A look at the underbody gives a good condition of this Haflinger: According to the seller, the underside is free of rust and in the course of the restoration, the off-road vehicle got a cavity seal. You can't see it in the small Steyr-Puch Haflinger, but in the terrain it shows its true greatness. This model offered here is also a rare 6-seater and, according to the seller, one of the 200 right-hand drive cars that have gone to England. If you are looking for a compact "off-road dwarf" that holds much more off the road than its appearance promises, this completely restored Steyr-Puch Haflinger is definitely an option.
