Vehicle description

Model history:

In 1957, Maserati presented the new top model 3500 GT for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. Maserati brought 2 coupes from Modena to Geneva: one with the body of Allemano and one of Touring, which went into production. At the Turin Motor Show in 1962, Maserati showed for the first time the 3500 GTI S, a 2+2-seater coupe based on the short chassis of the 3500 GT-Spider - the technology corresponded to the 3500 GTI, the S stood for Sebring. Together with the Vignale Spider built from 1960 and some special bodies, the 3500 GT and GTI series reached a total of more than 2,200 units.

General information about the vehicle:

Now a Maserati 3500 GTI Sebring Coupé from 1963 is offered for auction in this auction, which was imported from Switzerland and has a total of 6 holders. From the so-called matching numbers is assumed, an exact history of the Maserati is unfortunately no longer presentable, but the vehicle has already been restored and there is a large number of invoices. A valid main inspection of this 3500 GTI currently has none, also an H-approval has not yet been carried out on this car.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

The body of the coupe is made of aluminum - as a paint color, the Maserati wears a dark blue. Whether a repainting has already been carried out on the car, the current owner can not say due to lack of information. Apparently, all chrome trim elements are preserved in glossy condition on the body and modifications deviating from the original condition can not be found. The seller can guarantee freedom from accidents in his hand. To get a more detailed picture of the condition of the exterior, we refer to the series of pictures of this 3500 GTI Sebring.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Vredestein tyres with obviously sufficient tread are mounted on original Maserati rims. The current owner indicates the condition of the brake system between 50-70% of its new condition. In 2010, at KM level 36.312, the front axle was remounted and the articulated bushings renewed, and the wheel bearings were replaced with new ones.

Interior:

A glance into the interior reveals a bright, functional sports car cockpit, which is refined with lots of chrome and leather. In addition to the many beautifully arranged fittings and displays, the leather seats in red, which offer expansive space, are an eye-catcher. In addition to power windows, an original Motorola radio is also part of the equipment of this coupe. As defects in the interior, the seller indicates the non-functioning interior lighting and the driver's side window regulator - which only goes up, but no longer down. Apart from these complaints, all levers, switches and instruments in the interior work perfectly.

Mileage

The watch armada behind the steering wheel is framed in chrome: a mileage of 38,836 can be read off on the 5-digit speedometer. How many kilometers the Maserati 3500 GTI S has reeled off since its delivery in total, the seller can not say due to lack of evidence.

Engine

In 2007 (at KM level 34,945) the 230 hp 3.5-liter in-line six-cylinder engine of the Maserati was completely overhauled, about 20,000 € flowed according to the bills in this work. In 2010, the steering gear was revised and the rack was overhauled with new seals. The ignition system of the 3500 GTI S was also overhauled in 2010. All invoices are available according to the seller's information on this work. In 2019, the Maserati underwent a final service.

Subsoil:

Without findings, the underbody condition of this Maserati can be found - a preservation was carried out and defects can not be named according to the seller's statements. The important role in Maserati's brand history makes a 3500 GT/GTI a collector's item - in addition, the body is timelessly beautiful and at the same time restrained. Due to the extensive restoration work carried out on this Maserati in the area of engine and chassis, the GTI S can certainly be moved flawlessly on the road. A Gran Tourismo for connoisseurs and collectors.

Some questions as the description is in German; is the car matching numbers? Which company did the restoration? Is the original Lucas injection pump available? Which documents will join the car? thank you

    • 25.10.2022 16:49

Hello @Cryptoinvader, thank you for your questions. In the top right corner you can switch to the english version by clicking on the "world" icon. We just uploaded the bills of the restoration worth more than 20.000€ of the dutch "Celtic car company" and "ITALAUTO" which can be found in the Gallery.

      • 26.10.2022 18:22

Thank you for your response. I don't want to be rude here but the document from the Celtic Car company is an offer (to revise the engine only not the car) not an invoice. So we can assume that the engine has been fully restored but not sure. The invoices from Italcar are just maintenance invoices. I would like to know who did the restoration of the car in 2010 and the number of the engine. Also is the Lucas pump available and does the car has still it's original documents? Thank you and sorry for the questions...

Gibt es irgendwelche Infos zu der Historie?

      • 25.10.2022 17:06

Hallo @rudi66, der Verkäufer gibt an, dass die Historie nicht weiter bekannt ist. Erstauslieferung in der Schweiz, danach in die Niederlande und nach Deutschland.
