Vehicle description
Alpina's history dates back to 1962, when Burkhard Bovensiepen offered a Weber double carburetor system for the BMW 1500. Alpina Burkhard Bovensiepen KG was officially founded in 1965 and the company began with classic tuning: carburetor system, spoilers, chassis parts for the BMW 02 models and the BMW 5 Series built from 1972 onwards. Those customers who wanted more sportiness in their BMW therefore had a corresponding point of contact: Alpina – there the vehicles were then modified accordingly. Bmw's 02 series in particular was the big starting point for Alpina – not only for the road, but also for the race track, the BMW were made sportier and faster.
Now in this auction there is the possibility to purchase an original BMW 2002 Ti, which came to Alpina as a new car at that time and was modified accordingly. This was first registered in 2002 Ti with the chassis number 2601948 in May 1970 in Switzerland. After the swiss first owner bought a new car, he brought the car to Alpina in order to make it even sportier through various modifications. According to the seller, the BMW 2002 should probably have 2 or 3 holders. An almost comprehensible story about the vehicle is available. Now the BMW is in a completely restored condition, in which, according to the seller, work was carried out without regard to costs. The restoration work took place at the BMW 2002 specialist Andexer in Velbert. 1 set of keys to the car is still available, the TÜV is renewed before the handover to the future owner and an H-approval already ennobles the BMW. Matching numbers are not given according to the seller statements, an expert opinion on the 2002 Ti is still available.
Externally, the BMW is classic with the well-known silhouette of the 02 series: The yellow paint tone exudes pure 70s flair and shows itself without defects. In the course of the complete restoration, the entire body shell of the BMW was revised so that this 2002 Ti is prepared for the next decades. The chrome as well as all attachments are completely preserved and present themselves in a decent condition without damage, corrosion on the exterior can not be found anywhere even rudimentarily. The current owner rules out an accident, and the chrome bumpers at the front and rear do not show any parking bumps, which would tarnish the very good overall impression of the BMW 2002 Ti.
Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels, together with Tyres from the Toyo brand, adorn the visual appearance of the car. With the brakes, the seller speaks of a new condition, even in the area of the chassis no complaints are to be made.
As a driver, you sit on an Alpina sports seat with blue/green center stripe design, the passenger and the other passengers take a seat in the usual 2002 seats. The Alpina sports seat has a few wear spots: a side cheek is torn open and the seat is a bit worn. Except for this small drop of courage, the interior can be attributed to a perfect condition, as neither large traces of wear nor missing parts or damage can be detected inside this BMW. Features include: three-spoke Alpina leather steering wheel, Alpina gear knob, sunroof and a Becker Mexico cassette radio. Furthermore, there are 3 additional instruments on the dashboard of the BMW.
All displays in the interior can be attested to a flawless function, the five-digit speedometer can read 74,751 kilometers. According to the seller, a checkbook is no longer available, but the history of the 2002 Ti can be partially traced by documents. In any case, due to the complete reconstruction, the car is in a corresponding condition both visually and technically.
The 2.0-litre in-line four-cylinder engine modified by alpina delivers 160 hp: the compression ratio is 11.1:1 and the current owner specifies a camshaft with 300° in the engine. Via a 5-speed sports transmission, the power is passed on to the rear axle equipped with a differential lock. A new service took place only recently, current technical deficiencies can not be enumerated.
The high-quality work of the restoration can also be taken from the underbody condition of the BMW 2002 Ti: Here, apparently, a neat hand was put in place to restore the car to its current condition. This car is for those who want to take the road under the wheels with an early BMW modified by Alpina in 2002.
