Vehicle description
Model history:
When the Italian car manufacturer Maserati introduced the four-seater sports car "Indy" in 1969, the brand had a total of 5 models in its portfolio at the same time. In addition to the Ghibli, there were already the Mistral, the Mexico and the Quattroporte. But the Indy, designed by automotive design and coachbuilder Vignale, was the first Maserati to feature a self-supporting body. Always equipped with a V8 engine, Indy was available in the Indy 4200 (4.2-liter and 260 hp), Indy 4700 (4.7-liter and 290 hp) and Indy 4900 with 4.9-liter and 320 hp. Of all versions, just over 1100 copies were produced until the end of production in 1975.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction a Maserati Indy 4200 can now be auctioned, which dates from the year of construction 1973 and was registered in Italy for the first time. Until 2015, this vehicle remained in the possession of the family and, according to the seller, has not been registered to another owner since then. At the moment, the Maserati has been in a collection in Germany for several years - now the Indy 4200 is to be sold. Before handing over the car to the future owner, the seller can have a new HU made.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
In terms of paintwork, the Maserati Indy 4200 shines in a color called "Celeste Chiaro" - this is a bright blue. According to the seller, neither modifications nor missing parts can be found on the clearly aerodynamically shaped body, and the paint also presents itself in good condition without apparent damage. The chrome of the vehicle also still has a good shine. Rust on the body can not be detected after consultation with the seller. The exact condition can be found in the further photos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Original Maserati alloy wheels together with tires, which have sufficient tread, ensure a successful appearance of the car. There are no inconsistencies in the area of the chassis and no damage to the brake system can be mentioned according to the seller's statements.
Interior:
Beige leather seats provide a luxurious feel-good ambience in the interior of this Maserati Indy 4200. The standard equipment of this vehicle includes an adjustable steering column, power windows, fog lights, a heated rear window, head restraints and a clock on the dashboard. Special features include power steering and contemporary radio. All equipment elements in the interior of the car can be attributed a problem-free function. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the other photos.
Mileage
On the elegantly executed round instruments of the Maserati, a mileage of 51,070 kilometers can be read on the speedometer. A history of the vehicle can be submitted according to the seller. All displays and instruments in the interior are in service without any problems.
Engine
The 4.2-liter V8 front engine of this Maserati Indy delivers 260 hp, the maximum torque is 373 Newton meters. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels by means of a 5-speed manual transmission.
Subsoil:
According to the seller, there is nothing to complain about on the underbody of the vehicle. The Indy was one of the most successful models for Maserati and also the last in-house development before the takeover by Citroën in 1968. A rich history, the dreamlike-sounding V8 engine and the generous space in the interior speak in addition to the impressive color scheme for this Maserati Indy 4200 from the year of construction 1973.
