Vehicle description

Chief designer Harm Laagay was accused of the Porsche 996 looking too similar to the Boxster. But beyond all questions of taste, the 911 produced from 1997 offered its passengers more space in the interior, which tall people appreciated. At the market launch, only the coupé was in the program, followed a year later by the open eleven. The 911 Turbo appeared in 2000 and was recognizable with wide jaws, numerous air openings and an extendable rear spoiler. In addition, only the Turbo had the new independent light section, which immediately met with approval and was donated to all 996 models as part of the facelift in 2001. All-wheel drive was standard in the Turbo: This ensured perfect road contact.

In this auction, a Porsche 911 of the 996 series is offered for auction as a turbo from the year of construction 2001. The turbocharged 911 was first registered in December 2001, according to the seller, the vehicle is a re-import from Japan. The car with the FIN WP0ZZZ99Z2S680602 has only one owner, the history of this turbo can be traced back beyond doubt through a complete checkbook. There is still a key to the Porsche, matching numbers are given after consultation with the seller. A new general inspection will be carried out before the handover.

Only minor signs of wear can be found on the paint dress of the "Arctic Silver Metallic" 911 Turbo according to the age. Modifications deviating from the original condition are not to be found on the exterior, the typical turbo folklore includes wide jaws, large air openings and the extendable rear spoiler. Since the delivery of this 996, the vehicle has not been repainted according to the seller, so it still impresses with its extremely well-preserved first paint all around. On the front spoiler as well as on the rear spoiler no traces of a parking bumper can be seen. Corrosion also at the neuralgic zones does not seem to be present anywhere in this Porsche 911, on the whole the body presents itself in a clean condition according to the low mileage.

Pirelli P Zero tires with enough tread are mounted on original silver turbo alloy rims, which have no damage. The perforated brake discs are in good condition, just like the modification-free suspension. There are no deficiencies in these areas.

If you open the driver's door of the Turbo, you will only discover fine scratches on the plastic part of the entrance area on closer inspection – except for this small conspicuousness, the black interior of the 911 is in perfect condition. The full leather seats are very well maintained and show neither cracks nor signs of wear. The equipment of the Porsche 996 Turbo includes power steering, central locking, power windows, air conditioning, ABS, cruise control and a Pioneer radio. All equipment features have perfect functionality. In addition to the good sound of the turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine, a Bose sound system provides a perfect sound backdrop.

If you look at the clearly structured, easy-to-read fittings with black dials, the electronic speedometer shows a mileage of only 34,268 kilometres. The total mileage can be proven by a flawlessly managed Porsche checkbook. The instruments in the interior can be attested to a perfect function.

Thanks to double charging, the 3.6-litre boxer engine delivers 420 hp, making the 911 Turbo the first production model from Porsche to break through the 300 km/h mark: In contrast to the engines of the Carrera models, the turbo engine is equipped with an external oil tank for dry sump lubrication. In addition, the engine has the so-called VarioCam Plus intake camshaft adjustment with valve lift circuit. The six-cylinder boxer is coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission, in which you can shift the gears directly on the steering wheel. Deficiencies in the technology are not objectionable, a last service was only recently completed.

The underside of the Porsche 996 Turbo is immaculate: There are neither rust spots nor inconsistencies to be found, overall, the underbody is to be attested to a perfect state of preservation corresponding to the mileage.
