Vehicle description
The type designation 500 already adorned the post-war small car Topolino. The model, which is now commonly referred to as Fiat 500, is the Topolino successor, it first appeared in 1957 and bore the additional designation "Nuova". It was a minimal vehicle, which nevertheless significantly advanced mass motorization in post-war Italy. The modest mileage and the manageable space predestined the Fiat for inner-city traffic. In the course of its long life (until 1977), various derivatives based on Fiat 500 were created, including the station wagon Giardiniera, the doorless convertible Jolly or the roadster special body Vignale Gamine. Over 3.7 million pieces were built by the little folk hero.
In this auction, a Fiat 500 F from 1973 is offered for auction. This model is a Sicilian first delivery, which was registered in Syracuse for the first time. How many owners the small Fiat has exactly, is not known to the seller, but he states that the 500 with the chassis number SR108146H was completely restored in Sicily. A checkbook is enclosed with the car and allows the history of the vehicle to be roughly traced. In addition, the seller states that the Fiat does not yet have H-approval, but the main inspection is done again before the handover. Whether the 500 has matching numbers is not known, but 2 vehicle keys are still included with the Fiat.
In the course of the complete restoration in Sicily, the small 500 experienced a complete paint in the color yellow, according to the seller was looked at during the restoration of the Fiat to keep it as possible in its original condition. In terms of paint, the car is well presented, only normal traces caused by age and use can be seen on the vehicle. Neither on the front bumper nor at the rear are traces of parking bumps to be found, whether the Fiat 500 ever had an accident, the seller is not aware of it. The black folding hood has no cracks or other damage, it can be easily opened and closed again. In addition, the rubber seals on the vehicle are still soft and not hardened. External modifications to the exterior of the Fiat are not recognizable.
Mounted on the car are in good condition steel rims without curb scratches including tires to be found in good condition. No damage can be detected on the brakes. The chassis presents itself in original condition without any modifications.
The interior of the Fiat 500 Nuova is typically sparsely equipped: Apart from a perforated three-spoke wooden steering wheel, a black gear stick, a storage compartment in the middle of the car, a grab handle on the dashboard and a single display in the cockpit, not many features can be found in the interior. The seats are made of black imitation leather and are in perfect condition. There is no damage to the entire interior, and the small switches, levers and controls work without any problems.
On the speedometer is a mileage of 40,000 to read, how much the small Fiat 500 has run in total, the seller is no longer sure, but due to the fact that the Fiat has undergone a complete restoration, this is as good as rebuilt. According to the seller, an entry can be found in the enclosed cheque book of the Fiat.
The air-cooled two-cylinder engine of the Fiat 500 has a displacement of 500 cc and provides 18 hp, shifting is done by manual transmission and 4 gears. After consultation with the seller, he states that an oil change will be carried out before delivery. There are obviously no defects in the powertrain.
The underbody shows a very healthy and very well restored condition: This was sealed abundantly with black underbody protection.
