Vehicle description

Model history:

By the end of the 1950s, the VW Beetle was already looking back on an existence that had led to two generation changes for other models. Not so with the Type 1, which continued to be built stoically over all decades with a crank-arm front axle and swinging rear axle, apart from the 1302 and 1303 Beetles. All assemblies underwent cosmetic changes, usually several times, and engine output grew from 30 to 34 to 50 hp. Those who think of the Beetle usually have 1200 in mind, the model designation 1200 is due to its displacement. 1955 one celebrated one million beetles at Volkswagen, the world-wide beetle production ended only 2003 with over 21.5 million built vehicles.

General to the vehicle:

With the VW offered in this auction for the auction it concerns a beetle, which comes from first registration 1959 and in Germany with the chassis number 2568502 the first time to traffic one registered. According to the seller's statements, this Beetle should have had 5 owners over the years, the so-called matching numbers are assumed - unfortunately, the exact history of the VW Beetle can no longer be traced due to lack of supporting documents. In possession of an H-plate, the car is already and the HU shows a validity until October 2024. Since 2010, the VW Beetle is in the hands of the current seller.

Exterior color / paint / body:

In the course of a complete restoration, which was carried out according to the seller about 20 years ago and in which this Beetle was rebuilt from scratch, the dark blue paint was also completely new. As a defect on the exterior, the current owner of the vehicle states only a not so nice paint on the trunk lid and generally a few traces of use. The seller can exclude an accident in his holding period of the Beetle. All chrome elements on the exterior show a good degree of shine and all body attachments appear to be in complete condition.

Exterior Rims/Brakes/Chassis:

Whitewall tires with a condition estimate of 50-70% by the seller show mounted on steel rims with chrome wheel covers

.

The

current owner of the car attests the brakes a condition of also 50-70% and in the area of the chassis according to him no damages are known.

Interior:

Considering the almost 65 years of vehicle age of this model, the interior with cloth seats can be taken as far as apparent good condition with a few traces of patina

.

Interior flaws cited by the seller include a broken latch on the driver's side triangular window and "thin spots" of the cloth upholstery on the driver's seat, as well as a tear on the rear seat. On the whole, however, there are no major inconsistencies and there are no missing parts. In order to get an overview of the equipment elements as well as the exact condition of the interior, we refer to the many pictures as well as the meaningful videos to this VW Beetle from 1959.

Mileage:

Read off the five-digit speedometer, the Beetle has run 8,457 kilometers. The seller cannot say how many actual kilometers the car and engine have run. The seller assumes that it should be 208,000 km in total. The seller himself estimates the mileage in his possession at about 4,000 - 5,000 km.

The

indications in the instrument show a full function.

Engine:

30 hp is produced by the 1.2-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, which is located in the rear of the Beetle. A 4-speed manual transmission engages the individual gears and the power of the air-cooled boxer engine is transmitted to the road via the rear axle. A last service was carried out in October 2022 and according to the seller, the clutch was changed about 1,000 km ago.

Underbody:

According to the seller, only slight rust film can be found on the underbody of the VW - overall, the underside presents itself in an unwelded and preserved condition. It is worth mentioning that this Beetle - since it came into the possession of the current owner in 2010 - has been serviced regularly and has been moved little except for some classic car events and trips. Who is looking for a VW Beetle in a beautiful color combination in not perfect condition - but with honest patina, this classic classic car offered here for auction is recommended.
