Model history

The Jaguar E-Type, which was first presented in 1961, is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars of all time. Even the Museum of Modern Art in New York has included an example in its exhibition. The E-Type was developed under the direction of company founder William Lyons in close collaboration with aerodynamicist Malcom Sayers, taking strong inspiration from the successful Le Mans XKD racing car. Three series of the E-Type were produced between 1961 and 1974. The Series 1 vehicles were initially equipped with the six-cylinder engine from the predecessor model, the XK 150. In 1964, the capacity of this engine was increased from 3.8 to 4.2 liters, which was also retained in Series 2 until 1971. In Series 3, the E-Type finally received the new 5.3-liter V12 engine.
