Vehicle description

Today, BMW can look back on a long, successful, but also eventful history. After initial successes in the 1930s, the company experienced difficult post-war years and, after high losses in the mid-1950s, was already on the verge of economic collapse. At that time, there was a huge gap between small cars such as the "Isetta" and the luxurious "Baroque Angel", which could only be filled after near-bankruptcy and change of ownership by the so-called "New Class". It included similarly designed models of different displacement sizes, which re-established the success of BMW. The most powerful version of this series was the BMW 2000, which was also available as a coupé and sports coupé from the end of 1965.

In this auction a very well preserved BMW 2000 CS from 1967 is offered. The beautiful sports coupé was first approved for road traffic in May of the same year and has only had three owners in its long history. The vehicle was owned for many years by a hotelier who went to great lengths to care for the vehicle and left it in the garage in the winter. It is thanks to the correctness of the businessman, among other things, that a complete checkbook is available and the car has remained accident-free to this day. The historic BMW has matching numbers and is registered with the Austrian Motor Veterans Association, and several expert opinions should also be a recommendation in order to be allowed to carry H license plates in the future. The vehicle is fully ready to drive and will be handed over to the new owner with a new TÜV badge and a set of keys.

The vehicle is painted in anthracite metallic. This is the manufacturer's paint, which was completely renewed in 1988. The vehicle is further enhanced by a chrome-plated trim strip that runs completely around the car and has no dents, dents or paint damage. The body of the vehicle has been preserved in its original condition and due to the good care, the topic of corrosion in this beautiful vehicle is basically unknown.

The vehicle drives on original BMW steel rims, on which hubcaps in the matching company design are attached. The look harmonises wonderfully with the chrome-plated bumpers and the legendary BMW 2000 CS exterior mirrors. Fulda Eco Control tyres are used on both axles, which are in mint condition. The chassis was preserved in its original condition without modifications, no defects could be found in the brakes and all other components during the service.

The interior of the vehicle presents itself in a successful combination of different brown and beige tones, with the bright seating set made of fabric and leather shining in a friendly look. It shows no damage and only slight signs of use and enters into a perfect symbiosis with the wooden décor in the cockpit area. The fittings are in top condition, particularly striking is the artfully designed with wood decorations narrow black steering wheel. On the driver's side, the displays present themselves in an elegant black, that silver-colored radio in the area of the center console is another visually successful equipment detail.

The beautiful BMW 2000 CS has covered about 46,500 kilometres since its commissioning to date, which is proven on the one hand by the speedometer display and on the other hand by the extensive documentation. All instruments work in the cockpit, and the seller is not aware of any signs of failure or complications.

The beautiful sports coupé is driven with a 4-speed manual transmission and has a four-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine with a displacement of just under 2 liters. The machine produces 120 hp at 5,500 rpm and can accelerate to 100km/h in just over 10 seconds and reach a top speed of 185km/h. In 2019, the last inspection was carried out on the vehicle and no defects in the engine, technology or underbody were found.

All necessary, minor repairs have been carried out during the regular service examinations and no major impairments have been detected recently. A visit to a workshop should therefore not be necessary at first, but this can never be predicted exactly for vehicles of this age. The BMW 2000 CS is a beautiful, small dream car with which BMW also made a comeback in the field of sports coupés at the end of the 1960s. The vehicle was only produced for a few years, so that together with the models C and CA only about 13,000 copies rolled off the production line. 90% of the original vehicle fleet is probably no longer available today, so that especially for BMW lovers there is the ideal opportunity to secure a 2000 CS in top condition and to discover its "sporty heart for big rides" on relaxed tours.
