Model history

The first-generation Audi R8 (internal designation Type 42) was presented in September 2006 and marked Audi's entry into the high-performance sports car segment. Inspired by the successful Audi R8 Le Mans racing prototype, the model impresses with its lightweight construction with a body made entirely of aluminum. A total of 26,037 units were produced between 2006 and 2014, of which 5,626 vehicles were newly registered in Germany.
