Vehicle description

As the successor to the 944, which was sent into well-deserved retirement in 1991, came the 968 – which, as with the 944, was available as a coupé and convertible. And as with its predecessor, it also has a four-cylinder heart beating under the bonnet: it is based on the engine of the 944 S2, but thanks to the newly introduced "Vario Cam" camshaft adjustment, the 3.0-litre naturally aspirated engine provided even more torque and pulling power, especially in the lower and medium speed range. What also impresses about the engine is the smooth running, which almost reaches the level of a six-cylinder thanks to two balance shafts. Finally, just over 11,000 units of the 968 were built by the end of production in 1995.

One of about 11,000 units of a 968 built can now be auctioned off in this auction: This is a Porsche 968 Coupé from 1994. As a new car, the transaxle sports car was sold to Sweden with the FIN WP0ZZZ96ZPS800314. The exact number of previous owners cannot be clearly understood. The history of the car and above all the extremely low mileage can be traced on the one hand by a fully guided checkbook, on the other hand by various documents. 2 master keys, a workshop key, 2 rim wrenches and 2 extra keys are included with the vehicle. A general inspection is carried out by the seller after the auction, matching numbers are available according to the seller's information.

In terms of bodywork, the Porsche 968 is somewhat rounder than the 944, which the viewer notices especially at the front due to the round headlights, which are recessed in the body and can be folded up via rotary knob. The exterior can be attributed a very good condition, the only drop of courage is on the one hand a slight rockfall on the bonnet, on the other hand a slight stone chip on the rear wheel arch protection to note. Rust, dents or scratches cannot be detected on the entire body.

Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres in apparently good condition with plenty of tread are mounted on original 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels from Porsche. The brakes on the 968 are in very good shape, no deficits can be pronounced in terms of chassis technology.

In the almost entirely grey interior of the Porsche 968, no complaints, signs of wear or general traces of use can be detected. The 968 seats combine good lateral support with comfortable seating comfort, the leather is not worn. The equipment of the Transaxle Coupé includes a removable lifting roof, power steering, central locking, electric windows, electrically adjustable seats with heated seats on both sides, air conditioning, ABS, temperature display and a Blaupunkt cassette radio. All equipment elements in the interior are said to have perfect functionality.

The arrangement of the instruments in the cockpit is clearly structured: Hard to believe, but the low mileage of the Porsche 968 of only 22,435 kilometres can be proven by a complete Porsche checkbook as well as earlier invoices and former TÜV reports. All the instruments in the interior perform their duties without any problems.

With the 240 hp 3.0-litre four-cylinder engine, Porsche crowned the four-cylinder engines at the time: power, efficiency and reliability are its strengths. A respectable 305 Newton meters are on 4,100 tours. The 5-speed transmission is transaxle-technically located on the rear axle, the gearshift can be operated without problems. In March 2021, the 968 was subjected to a final service, at mileage 22,403 the timing belt and the water pump were renewed, and the oil was changed. In terms of underbody technology, there is nothing to complain about in this Porsche 968 Coupé, because the underside of the vehicle presents itself according to the low mileage kept clean.
