Vehicle description
Model history:
In 1957 Fiat introduced the Nuova 500 as the successor to the Topolino, in 1959 small visual changes in the form of new side indicators and floor lights / turn signals were used instead of the front air slots. In 1960, Fiat introduced the 500 D with automatically resetting windshield wipers and reading light on the interior mirror and the station wagon Giardinera was introduced. After the mid-1960s the change of the door fittings and larger headlights and larger tanks were used, Fiat expanded the model range in 1968 with the Fiat 500 L (Lusso): This "L" had a body with chrome trim, a new Fiat logo at the front, a faired dashboard with modern broadband speedometer and a sporty steering wheel.
General information about the vehicle:
Now in this auction a Fiat 500 L from the year of construction 1970 is offered for auction, which has matching numbers and, according to the seller, has only 2 holders. The small car was imported from Italy, an H-approval is not yet available and the last TÜV ran until January 2022, but according to the seller, the vehicle is fully roadworthy and has already been restored. Due to an approximately comprehensible history of the vehicle, the total mileage of this Fiat 500 can be partially documented.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
In terms of paintwork, this Fiat 500 L shines in a dark blue - this Fiat has already been completely repainted in the course of the restoration work, but the seller completely excludes an accident. The folding soft top as well as all chrome trim parts on the car can be attested to a well-preserved condition and missing parts on the exterior or even damage can apparently not be identified. According to the seller, the body is in very good condition and defects cannot be listed. The exact condition and more details regarding the exterior can be found in the many photos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Original steel rims with chrome hubcaps together with new tires provide the further visual appearance of this Fiat 500 L. In addition, the brakes of the vehicle were new and the chassis are obviously no modifications.
Interior:
Beige imitation leather seats with black piping can be found in the interior of the Fiat 500, and the door panels are also in beige. A distinguishing feature of the 500 L in the interior is, among other things, the faired dashboard with an integrated broadband speedometer. Overall, the interior of this vehicle presents itself in neat condition - all controls work perfectly and the folding top can be opened and closed perfectly. The equipment of this 500 L includes crank windows as well as an ashtray in the middle of the dashboard and a handsome 2-spoke steering wheel.
Mileage
According to the seller, the car should have covered only 150 kilometers after completion of its restoration work - an almost comprehensible history of the Fiat is available according to his statements. A total of about 300 pictures from the restoration are available, some of the pictures are deposited in the gallery.
Engine
The fan-cooled two-cylinder in-line engine produces 18 hp from a displacement of almost 500 cubic centimetres, and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission. A final service took place in May 2021, according to the seller.
Subsoil:
Welshed, rustproof and cavity sealed for long-lasting protection, the seller describes the condition of the subfloor. A charming image, the handy handling, the low maintenance costs and a manageable technology speak for a Fiat 500. This Fiat 500 L from 1970 offered here already benefits from many detail improvements of the series and is extremely charming in its color combination. In addition, the future owner of this car will benefit from the restoration work already carried out.

Comments of this past auction
"Frame off" restauriert!!
