Vehicle description
Available from 1980, the Ferrari Mondial is characterized above all by its elegant line, designed by the in-house designer Pininfarina. The extremely flat front with the two folding headlights was only possible because Ferrari opted for a mid-engine concept in which the eight-cylinder initially sat transversely and later longitudinally to the direction of travel behind the passengers. The lateral air intakes of the Mondial were the model for the extremely wide flanks of the later Testarossa. Initially, the Mondial produced 214 hp, in the further course of its career the V8 engine got a four-valve cylinder head and a displacement expansion to 3.4 liters at the end. The Mondial is considered the last car produced by Ferrari with a mid-engine and 4 seats.
The Ferrari Mondial from 1982 offered in this auction is the 3.0-liter version with 214 hp. Originally, this Ferrari was first registered with the FIN ZFFHD08B000035811 on 06.10.1982 in Switzerland – over the years the Italian sports car then came to Germany. In total, this Mondial has 3 holders, the previous owner should be a collector according to the seller. A traceable history of the car is available, many invoices and various receipts can make the history of the Ferrari comprehensible. The Mondial is already in possession of an H-approval, in addition to the expected matching numbers, the sports car comes with 1 set of keys. In addition, there is a guided checkbook on this Ferrari.
The body of the Ferrari Mondial is kept in classic "Rosso Corso": It is worth mentioning partial repainting on the exterior of the car, according to the current owner, the vehicle did not suffer an accident. Except for stone chips at the front of the car, the traces of use on the exterior are generally limited. All plastic elements on the Ferrari impress with their undamaged and thus well-preserved condition, also front and rear bumper convince by a very good state of preservation. Modifications deviating from the original condition are not to be listed on the exterior of this Italian sports car.
The exterior appearance of the red Ferrari is provided by original Ferrari alloy wheels. The tyres come from an older date of manufacture and sometimes have cracks in the rubber, so that the tyres should be changed before the next commissioning of the vehicle. Except for a few traces of use, the rims are in a good state of preservation, also in good condition seems to be the brake system. In the area of the chassis, apparently, no serious deficits can be detected.
Beige leather can be found in the interior of this Ferrari: parts of the dashboard, door panels and centre console are in black. Damage to the interior of this Mondial cannot be recorded. According to the seller, this car has almost full equipment: In addition to the full leather seats and the 3-spoke leather steering wheel, power steering, central locking, electric windows, air conditioning, ABS and a contemporary radio are also listed. All displays, instruments, switches and levers in the interior can be attributed a flawless function.
In addition to the Veglia round instruments in the dashboard, the Ferrari's speedometer is housed in its own version: 66,335 kilometers can be read on it. Through various cancelled invoices and various TÜV reports of the previous years, the total mileage can be almost traced.
Installed transversely to the direction of travel is the V8 mid-engine of the Mondial, which generates 214 hp from 3.0 liters. The individual gears are engaged via a 5-speed manual transmission – with an open gearshift backdrop typical of Ferrari. Recently, a maintenance with timing belt change took place, defects in the technology are not recorded according to the seller information.
The underside of the car corresponds to the mileage, damage can obviously not be identified here. If you want to have fulfilled both the practical (for Ferrari standards) and the enjoyment aspects in a Ferrari, you are well served with the 2+2 seater Mondial – which is also the last model produced by Ferrari with a mid-engine and 4 seats.
