Vehicle description

Model history:

The Chrysler Airstream was an automobile produced by Chrysler in the 1935 and 1936 model years, which was available in the body variants coupe, convertible coupe, sedan, touring sedan and fastback sedan. In terms of design, the Airstream was conventional compared to most other cars of the time, but at that time already had hydraulic brakes, an automatic overdrive and an automatic choke. The Airstream models, which significantly boosted sales at Chrysler in the 1930s, were powered by either an in-line six-cylinder or in-line eight-cylinder. The most powerful expansion stage had up to 110 hp.

General information about the vehicle:

The classic car offered in this auction is a Chrysler Airstream C8 from 1936, which comes from German first registration and according to the seller is not a reimport. A total of 4 owners are said to have called this now partially restored Chrysler with the chassis number 6719390 their own, according to the current seller. Matching numbers are given after consultation with the current owner, this Airstream already bears an H mark and the last completed main inspection runs until March 2023.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

As a paint color, the Airstream still bears its original color, which listens to the sounding name "Skytint Blue Metallic". In terms of paintwork, this car, which is now over 80 years old, impresses with its extremely good state of preservation - all attachments and chrome trim elements are also in good condition. As a defect in the exterior, the seller only indicates the slightly tarnished windows in the edge area, otherwise he informs that the external condition of the vehicle is in a very clean condition and an accident in the current holding period can be ruled out.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Between 70-90%, the current owner of this Chrysler Airstream estimates the condition of the tires, in the area of brakes he also gives a condition of 70-90%. The rims are silver steel rims with chrome hubcaps, on which the Chrysler lettering is embossed. According to the sellers, there are no inconsistencies in terms of chassis technology.

Interior:

A jump back in time - to the 1930s to be precise - happens as soon as you sit down in the interior of the Chrysler Airstream. Zeitgeist pattern, beige seat fabrics and a literal dashboard with buttons and switches provide, among other things, a journey back in time to the 1930s. Although a certain patina can be taken from the interior of the Chrysler, according to the seller, there are no gross damages or missing parts given the age of this car. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the many photos of the vehicle.

Mileage

Almost 61,500 kilometers can be read from the five-digit speedometer display - which is located together with various additional displays in the middle of the dashboard - in the filigree designed speedometer. All controls in the Chrysler Airstream have a perfect function, according to the seller.

Engine

A silky smooth engine running offers the 105 hp in-line eight-cylinder engine, which has 4.5-liter displacement and transmits the power of its 8 cylinders via manual transmission to the rear axle. In May 2022, according to the seller, last service work on the Airstream C8 took place.

Subsoil:

As rustproof, unwelded and preserved, the current owner of the Chrysler indicates the underbody condition of the car. A Chrysler Airstream from the 1930s exudes a pure zeitgeist of its era - the aerodynamic shape and its light blue color scheme make this Airstream C8 offered here an eye-catcher on the road. The seller also notes that this Chrysler has an excellent substance and is overall in very clean condition and can be driven easily - either to special classic car trips or every weekend: This Chrysler Airstream C8 released for auction can be easily driven at any time.
