Model History

In 1962, the BMW 1602 ushered in the era of BMW's 2 Series. An entry-level model of the BMW brand, slightly smaller than the conventional sedans at the time and also cheaper. Wilhelm Hofmeister, BMW's design director, commissioned the two designers Georg Bertram and Manfred Rennen with the two-door project. They shortened the design and made it a bit lighter, so that the BMW 1602 was a sporty version of a compact car. Then in 1972 BMW introduced a whole special version of it, the BMW 1602 electric drive. This was used as a VIP shuttle at the Olympic Games in Munich. Of this version exist worldwide only two cars.

This BMW 1602 was imported from Portugal and has two owners in its history. According to the current owner, the car has MOT until May 2025, German E-registration (is approved), is in roadworthy condition and accident free.
