Vehicle description
Model history:
The first Maserati Quattroporte was introduced in 1963 and was one of the fastest production sedans in the world with a top speed of 220 km/h. The Quattroporte II introduced in 1974 - of which only a handful were built - was followed in 1979 by the production of a third Quattroporte series, which was to build on the success of the first Quattroporte under the new Maserati owner De Tomaso. Initially, the Quattroporte III was equipped with a 4.2-liter eight-cylinder, later there was a 4.9-liter eight-cylinder. Almost 2,100 copies of the Maserati Quattroporte III were built until 1986, only in 1994 the successor "Quattroporte IV" came on the market.
General information about the vehicle:
Now a third-generation Maserati Quattroporte can be purchased in this auction, which dates from 1982, was first registered in July of the same year and is equipped with the 4.9-liter engine. How many owners the Maserati has in total, the seller can not say. According to the seller, the so-called matching numbers are assumed.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
The designer Giugiaro shaped the angular Maserati face of the 1980s, which also feature the biturbo models of that era. Visually, this stylish Italian luxury sedan is rather discreet due to the gray paint color: defects in the exterior or missing trim elements on the Maserati Quattroporte are not to be named according to the seller's statements. Also rust can apparently not be found on the body of the vehicle. For a more detailed overview of the body condition and the general condition of the exterior of this Quattroporte, we refer to the telling series of pictures of this sedan.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Original Maserati rims together with tires, which, according to the current owner, still have sufficient tread, provide the extended visual appearance of the Quattroporte. According to the seller, there are no inconsistencies in the area of the brakes or in the area of the chassis.
Interior:
A certain opulence highlights the interior of the Maserati Quattroporte III, lined with plenty of leather, light root nut veneer in the door panels, the dashboard and the center console underlines the luxury of this sedan. As in the front compartment of the interior, the rear of the Maserati is also in a good state of preservation. To get a more accurate picture of the condition and features of the car, we refer to the many detailed photos of the interior of this Quattroporte.
Mileage
The eight round instruments of the Quattroporte III are highlighted in blue: The speedometer is also integrated in the speed display, on which a mileage of approx. 100,000 kilometres can be read. According to the seller, all displays and controls in the interior of the Maserati work perfectly.
Engine
The 280 hp 4.9-liter V8 engine of this Italian sedan ensures a top speed of 230 km/h, while power transmission is provided by a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission from Chrysler.
Subsoil:
Inconsistencies on the underside of this Quattroporte III are not to be mentioned according to the seller's statements. The stylish silhouette, the V8 engine equipped with four camshafts and the luxurious interior are the key charms of a third-generation Maserati Quattroporte. If you love the elegant appearance and want to call an exclusive sedan from Italian automotive engineering with a high-capacity V8 engine your own, a Maserati Quattroporte III - as it will be auctioned in this auction - will certainly be shortlisted.
