Vehicle description

Volkswagen had had great success with the Scirocco I released in 1974. The next model generation, the Scirocco II introduced in 1981, was to build on this. The demands on the new model were clear: it should offer space for occupants and luggage and be cheaper in consumption thanks to the flow-optimized body. Both specifications were met by the Scirocco II, although most of the technical components came from its predecessor model. Numerous facelift measures and special model editions kept customer interest alive until the end of production in 1992. In total, VW was able to sell almost 300,000 copies with the Scirocco II.

In this auction, a VW Scirocco from the year of construction 1984 is now offered for auction. This coupé with the FIN WVWZZZ53ZFK004948 comes from first ownership and has a completely verifiable history including checkbook. There is even the new car invoice for this car, from which it can be read that this Scirocco cost DM 19,692.07. Also the car letter from 1984 with the entry of the new car buyer exists and all keys to the vehicle are available. Matching numbers are given, the Scirocco already has an H-approval.

Externally, the car in the paint color "Irish green" shows itself in a very good condition for its age of now 38 years, corrosion on the exterior is not even remotely found anywhere, according to the seller. In addition, the seller points out that the vehicle is in its absolute original condition and that there are no modifications to the body. The plastic bumpers are not pressed in and all plastic trim elements are preserved in undamaged condition. Overall, the exterior of this Scirocco II is in a well-kept condition without serious flaws.

Uniroyal tyres in the dimension of 175/70 are mounted on the original – 13-inch – VW rims. No negative abnormalities can be taken from the brakes or the chassis.

Fabric seats with grey/silver stripe patterns can be discovered in the interior of the Scirocco II: like the exterior, the interior is also to be attested to a well-groomed condition. Damage or even missing parts can not be detected, the interior of the Volkswagen is clean, not worn and smells neutral according to the seller – this coupé was not a smoking car. From the present new car invoice it can be seen that the Scirocco was ordered at its delivery with the following equipment elements: bracket for first aid kit and warning triangle as well as height-adjustable front seats. All instruments and displays in the interior of the Scirocco are in service without any problems.

The speedometer unit of the Scirocco is also known from the VW Golf 2: Here and there there is a 6-digit odometer. This VW Scirocco II has a verifiable mileage of only 40,230 kilometers. This mileage is comprehensible, among other things, by the completely maintained checkbook and the additional invoices, which were cancelled from 2009 to 2022. The history of this coupé also includes the new car invoice and the original car letter from 1984. The complete on-board folder is also available.

Propulsion is provided in this Scirocco by a 1.6-liter in-line four-cylinder engine, which delivers 75 hp via 4-speed manual transmission to the front wheels. According to the sellers, a final inspection took place in August 2022: Here, the timing belt including the water pump was renewed. At the moment there is no maintenance or repair work that would have to be carried out.

According to the low overall mileage, the underside of this car also presents itself. The independent design, an uncomplicated and reliable technology and a carefree driving experience are on the plus side of a Scirocco of the 2nd generation. With this VW Scirocco II offered here for auction, the future owner secures a sporty-looking coupé from VW, which is quite a collector's vehicle due to the low verifiable mileage and the extremely well-maintained overall condition.
