Vehicle description

When the first Citroën Traction Avant was presented in 1934 with the 7A, it was considered a sensation in the automotive world. However, the fact that the advanced series remained in the sales program until 1957 would hardly have been considered possible by viewers at the time. The front-wheel drive in series production – called "Traction Avant" in French – was new in this class. The self-supporting, aerodynamic all-steel body with its balanced weight distribution was also unique. The positioning of the transmission in front of the engine and front axle was also innovative. The good road holding allowed relatively high cornering speeds and gave the Traction Avant safe driving characteristics that both the French police and bank robbers appreciated – in the vernacular, the vehicles were therefore often referred to as "gangster Citroën".

A milestone in automotive history, which is now 70 years old, is released for auction in this auction: It is a Citroën CV11 Légère (Traction Avant) from the year of construction 1952 with first registration in Germany on 02.01.1953. How many owners the Citroën has exactly, is uncertain, because there is no longer a history of the vehicle available. However, the seller states that this copy with the chassis number 615023 least comes from a Bavarian private collection, where this CV11 was also extensively and with great attention to detail completely restored. According to the seller, all keys to the Citroën are still available, the TÜV was recently completed and the CV11 already has an H approval. Matching numbers as well as an expert opinion, which attests to the Citroën the condition grade 1 and a market value of 45,000 €, are available.

Matching numbers as well as an expert opinion, which attests to the Citroën the condition grade 1 and a market value of 45,000 €, are available.

In the course of the restoration work, the work was carried out with the utmost care and attention to detail, and the focus was also on a faithful work. The body is rust-free, without dents and has been professionally repaired and completely painted in the manufacturer's shade white-beige. The paint finish presents itself in uniform gloss without protruding different color depths. The refurbishment of the chrome parts alone, all of which were newly chrome-plated, cost € 18,000, according to the seller. Now this Citroën is in a very good condition, defects or modifications to the exterior can not be objected to.

New Michelin tyres with an all-round 7mm tread are located on the CV11, the beige steel rims with the chrome hubcaps are in good condition. The brakes are also in good shape, no modifications can be taken from the chassis – because here too has been extensively restored.

If you open the front suicide doors, you will see newly upholstered and newly upholstered seats at the front and in the rear, a new dashboard and a very good interior condition overall. Damage to the interior of the Citroën can not be detected, even the headliner or the footwell carpet are in excellent shape. The controls in the interior can be attested to a full function. In terms of equipment, only the most necessary is really on board, here it is still said: "Driving in its purest form.". French flair and the thought of various car chases with the "gangster Citroën" in various crime novels come naturally in this vehicle.

The instruments in the CV11 are also new: they all have a flawless function, the speedometer can read 19,439 kilometers, there is no history left, but the Citroën has been completely restored, so that the future owner can carelessly take the next decades with this car under the wheels.

The in-line four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.9 liters and 56 hp was also revised. According to the seller, the revision included, among other things, the revision of the connecting rods and the cylinder head. The engine compartment is extremely clean. The 3-speed manual transmission is easy to operate, damage to the drive train is not detectable.

A seal can be removed from the underbody, strong rust spots on the underside of the Citroën CV11 Traction Avant are not to be complained about.
