Vehicle description

In addition to the Lotus Elise, the so-called Lotus Exige was built over 3 generations, which was built as a hardtop coupé compared to the Elise and had a hatchback. The Series 1, built from the year 2000 onwards, was followed by the 2nd generation in 2004 with optimised aerodynamics and higher downforces. Series 2 was followed by Series 3 in 2012: This 3rd generation was presented at the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt, production did not start until 2012. Compared to its predecessor, Lotus developed the new Exige considerably further – in addition to a V6 engine, a completely newly developed chassis was used, which had a wider track width – in addition, the wheelbase grew.

One of 9 prototypes of the Lotus Exige from the year of construction 2012 can now be auctioned in this auction: This sports car with the FIN SCCLHHSC0CHD20387 is a factory prototype with the number 4, which was used as a company vehicle at Lotus Engineering in Hethel over 50,000 kilometers until July 2016. When this Exige was handed over, Lotus changed all axle and wear parts and then the sports car came to Germany (Hamburg). From the present history it can be understood, among other things, that including the seller 4 owners were allowed to call this exige their own. 2 vehicle keys are available for the car, the so-called matching numbers are assumed. The main inspection will run until June 2023. It is also worth mentioning that there is a certificate from Lotus, which confirms this sports car as a factory prototype.

Bridgestone tyres with sufficient tread from the 2021 production year are mounted on original 17-inch rims on the front axle and 18-inch rims on the rear axle. At the moment, original silver Lotus rims adorn the visual appearance – but the seller notes that black rims with so-called "Diamond Cut" (these were also used on the press vehicles at that time) are still available and are given. The current owner can indicate the condition of the brakes as good and the chassis does not show any deficits.

According to the evidence, there are only 2 Exige V6 factory prototypes in the color green, exact color designation "Motorsport Green Metallic". Except for minor damage in the paint front left, rear right and rear center, according to the seller's information, no major defects can be removed from the presumably repaint-free body, which could tarnish the good overall impression of the exterior. All plastic attachments have a healthy condition, neither at the front nor at the rear are traces of a parking bump to be detected. The seller completely excludes an accident. External modifications deviating from the original condition are not noticeable.

A mix of leather, Alcantara and carbon as well as the so-called "Ebony-Black" leather with red stitching adorns the interior of the Lotus Exige factory prototype. Except for minimal scratches in the aluminum footwell, no defects can be removed from the interior of this sports car. The following features can be found in this factory prototype: Race Pack (with 3-stage traction control), air conditioning, parking sensors, heated seats and a Pioneer radio. All equipment options are said to function flawlessly.

69,740 kilometers can be read on the display in the instrument cluster of the Lotus: This mileage of the Exige can be proven via various available documents. Furthermore, the on-board folder and a few accessories are available.

Through the company Komo-Tec the V6 engine was given a performance cure, with which this Lotus Exige now has 430 (registered) hp ready. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a very crisp 6-speed manual transmission. Last maintenance work took place in June 2021, in May 2017 a JUBU transmission with lock was installed, the Komo-Tec 430 upgrade took place in March 2018. Since 2016, a total of approx. € 25,000 has been invested in this factory prototype, of which all invoices are available.

Well preserved and drawn without apparent damage, the condition of the subfloor can be found.

Of the total of 9 prototypes of the Exige V6 produced, only 8 were produced as a coupé and only 6 as left-hand drive. Due to the manufacturer's certificate and the associated confirmation that the factory prototype offered here bears the number 4 of the Exige prototypes ever built and that only 2 of them exist in this color, this rare specimen of a Lotus Exige makes it particularly interesting for collectors. Due to the Komo-Tec tuning carried out on this model, every exit with this sports car also brings a certain motorsport flair, which offers a risk of addiction.
