Model history
After the Vanquish model was the last Aston Martin to be built in the Newport Pagnell factory, which had been in existence for 50 years, the DB9 was the brand's first car to be built in Gaydon (Warwickshire). While its predecessor - the DB7 - was still largely identical to the Jaguar XK8, the DB9 from 2004 was a new development in its own right. One of the innovations was an aluminum monocoque. The DB9 was designed by Ian Callum, whose successor Henrik Fisker completed the vehicle. As is typical for Aston Martin, the DB9 is also largely based on craftsmanship.
