Vehicle description
Model history:
In the 90s, only a few expected such an impressive model from the British car manufacturer Lotus: At the IAA in Frankfurt am Main, the sports car called Elise caused enthusiasm when it was presented in 1995. The project was quintessentially Lotus - the car had to be light and there was a lot of emphasis on handling and performance. Due to the almost bare interior and the use of aluminum-light alloy compounds wherever possible, the Elise Series 1 weighed just over 700 kilograms. The power came from the 1.8-liter Rover K-series engine, which was able to achieve considerable power. Over time, more and more motorized Elise models followed and by the end of production of the Elise S1 in 2000, special models such as "Sport 135", "Sport 160" and "Sport 190" were added.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction, a Lotus Elise S1 Sport 160 from 2000 is now offered for auction, which was first delivered in Great Britain and came to Germany in 2012. Since 2016, the Elise has been in a collection, and in 2022 it was acquired by the current seller. According to the seller, there are a total of 2 owner entries. The so-called matching numbers are assumed and the HU is new. Service records from Great Britain are available from the delivery of the Lotus in 2000 to 2011.
Exterior paint/paint/body:
The seller attributes an almost perfect condition to the exterior: the paintwork in black metallic is very good and all add-on parts are completely preserved on the body. Inconsistencies or even deviations from the original condition cannot be found - in addition, the soft top is in a neat condition with no visible cracks. For more details regarding the external condition of this Elise, please have a look at the other photos and videos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Yokohama AD08 tires were recently new on the Lotus, the rims are original 5-spoke Lotus Victory rims in gray. The chassis underwent a complete overhaul: According to the seller, wheel bearings and bushings were new, and the Koni coilovers were revised or renewed. Furthermore, the wishbones were powdered.
Interior:
The interior of this Lotus Elise S1 Sport 160 has been completely rebuilt in its original look: the special skeleton bucket seats are red/black, as is the steering wheel and some of the entrances are covered with red/black fabrics. Everything you need for (sporty) driving is included as equipment in this Lotus - no more and no less. All displays, instruments and controls have a flawless function and coarse signs of wear in the interior can apparently not be complained about. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the other photos
Mileage:
This Lotus Elise S1 currently has a mileage of 55,000 kilometers. The vehicle history in Great Britain is verifiable after consultation with the seller and the total mileage of the Sport 160 is credible.
Engine:
The Rover K-Series engine with 1.8-liter displacement in this Lotus produces 158 hp - the power of the 4 cylinders is transmitted to the rear axle via a crisply tuned 5-speed manual transmission. In 2022, a C-service took place on this Lotus, the service work alone amounts to over € 5,000, according to the seller.
Subsoil:
The underside of this Elise S1 is in good condition. Due to the low curb weight, the revving engine and the low seating position, a Lotus Elise has a go-kart-like driving experience. The seller mentions that this Elise Sport 160 offered here is in a collector's condition and is technically and visually an almost perfect fun car. An S1 hardtop can be added at an additional cost.
