The Maserati Quattroporte formed the third vehicle line at the Italian car manufacturer after the sports cars and GT. For better weight distribution, the Quattroporte had a transmission as a transaxle unit with the differential on the rear axle. In 2012, the production of the Quattroporte of the 5th generation was discontinued, it was replaced by the Quattroporte VI, which has been produced since 2013 until today.
