Model history
The Porsche 911 G model (1973-1989) was a fundamental revision of the original model. It was characterized by more massive bumpers in order to meet US safety standards. The G model also introduced the 911 Turbo, the first production sports car with a turbocharger. Engine performance increased steadily, and the Carrera 3.2 became the base model that remained popular until the introduction of the Porsche 964.
