Vehicle description
Direct, honest, stylish – a Triumph TR6 can be brought to this triad. While the predecessor was still drawn by Triumph's court designer Michelotti, the Italian-looking design of the TR6 presented in 1968 was created in Germany: the coachbuilder Karmann created a coherent, modern and yet timeless face that stands out from the crowd. Triumph's new model was particularly popular in the USA: these US models were equipped with two Stromberg carburetors due to stricter exhaust and fuel consumption regulations, while the models built for Europe were powered by a mechanical Lucas injection system. In the entire construction period of the TR6 there were two facelifts: in 1973 there was the black front spoiler with black air intake as well as the Union Jack flag instead of the model lettering on the rear fender and in 1975 rubber shock absorbers were introduced in the USA
Now you have the opportunity to offer a Triumph TR6 with first registration in December 1974, i.e. already from the 1975 model year. Delivered in California, the TR6 was imported to Denmark in 2010, where it underwent restoration. How many owners the Triumph has, is unfortunately no longer comprehensible, but the history of the vehicle according to the owner on the basis of various invoices and so-called MOT reports (annual test of vehicle safety, roadworthiness and exhaust emission test) should be partially proven. The Triumph TR6 has matching numbers and vehicle identification number CF23182UD. According to the owner, the TR6 is currently not registered, it still has an American registration, but the EU import tax has already been paid. The car is handed over with a key pair.
The currently accident-free Triumph TR6 shines in classic red, the paint was completely renewed in Denmark in 2010. According to the holder, the Triumph visually has a condition arising from normal use, scratches and minor paint damage can be detected. The black soft top presents itself in a damage-free and apparently crack-free condition, it can be opened and closed without problems, the hood mechanism works very well. In addition, it should be noted that the exterior is in a modification-free condition, the thick US bumpers on the chrome-plated bumpers are not pressed in and also the rear bumper does not suggest any former enemy contact.
In terms of chassis technology, the red Triumph TR6 presents itself in acceptable and untinkered condition, the tires have enough tread and the brakes are in good and proper condition according to the owner. The classic alloy wheels in 8-spoke look have no visible damage, only one rim lacks the hub cover.
A lot of style is to be expected in the interior: A real board takes up the watch collection, the wood shows no jumps, the ignition lock sits as expected under the steering column. The sporty Moto Lita Volant, partly made of wood, is not damaged like the gear knob and is therefore in a clean state of preservation. The seats are made of black vinyl and fabric, they are crack-free, there are also no defects to be seen on the door panels, the footwell carpet has no stains. The windows can be operated electrically.
The total mileage of the Triumph TR6 is 42,456 mi (68,327 km) after consultation with the owner. Of this, 7,728 mi can be read. What is certain, however, is that all instruments perform their duties without any problems.
In the course of the restoration carried out in Denmark in 2010, the TR6 was given a new exhaust, as well as new carburetors and a new alternator. The engine runs quite cleanly and has no defects or disturbing background noise: It is a 2.5 liter in-line six-cylinder with a double carburetor system installed, the power is between 98 and 106 hp. Shifting is via a 4-speed manual transmission with additional overdrive, which reduces the speed of the engine at high speed. In 2021, a final service was carried out.
The subfloor is in good shape, rust nests are not visible even on closer inspection, which is not surprising, since this TR6 spent most of its time in sunny California, black underbody protection can also be seen. The owner also notes that the Triumph TR6 is accompanied by a hardtop matching the body color, a luggage rack, a steering wheel, an original exhaust and manifold, as well as several spare parts. In addition, the TR6 will be handed over with a new Danish technical inspection.
