Model history

The Fiat Barchetta was created between 1990 and 1994 under the project name Tipo B Spider 176. Andreas Zapatinas and Alessandro Cavazza, who worked under the direction of Peter Barrett Davis and other designers from the Centro Stile Fiat, were responsible for the design. Prototype production was carried out by coachbuilder Stola. Series production began in February 1995 and continued until June 2005, although there was a brief interruption when coachbuilder Maggiora had to file for bankruptcy.
