Model history
The first 3 Series E21 was produced from 1975 to 1983 and was the first BMW to be built in excess of 1 million units (1,364,039). This last generation BMW 318i replaced the 318 with carburetor engine with the Bosch injection system. Instead of 98 hp, it already produced 105 hp with significantly lower fuel consumption. To this day, the E21 is one of the absolute classics and a trend-setting model of the BMW 3 Series.

Technik: Mit dem Werkscode BMW E21 werden die Fahrzeuge der ersten 3er-Reihe von BMW bezeichnet, die im August 1975 als Nachfolger der 02-Modelle auf den Markt kam. Der nur als zweitürige Limousine lieferbare E21 war mit Vierzylinder- (M10) und ab Sommer 1977 auch mit Sechszylinder-Reihenmotor (M20) erhältlich und wurde bis Dezember 1983 gebaut. Im Dezember 1982 erschien das Nachfolgemodell E30, das auch mit vier Türen, als Kombi (Touring), Vollcabrio sowie mit Dieselmotor angeboten wurde. LG Tom
