Vehicle description

Italian cars have had a good reputation in the automotive world for many decades. Manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati are particularly associated with sports and racing cars, but have been guided by the great role model Alfa Romeo for decades. Founded in Turin in 1910, the company has long been a leader in sporty vehicles south of the Alps, but is also known for its elegant production vehicles. The names Giuletta, Giulia or Berlina are inextricably linked to Italian passion and engineering and are still world-famous today. They stand for the successful combination of sportiness and everyday practicality, whereby the Alfa Romeo Giulia in particular is experiencing a true renaissance among connoisseurs.

In this auction, an Alfa Romeo GT 1750 Veloce is offered, which was produced in Milan in 1968. The timelessly beautiful coupé of the Giulia series was registered for the first time in Italy in the same year and came to Germany at the end of the 1980s by direct purchase. The vehicle spent many years unused in a barn, but was then acquired by the current owner and restored to mint condition. The seller has a special relationship with the 1750 models. He told us: "Since this GT 1750 Veloce from 1968 was my first self-bought car, at the age of 19, I naturally fell for a blender. Since I had no money for repairs, I repaired myself in every minute of my free time within 2 years. Since then, I have owned over 20 vehicles of the 1750 Veloce." Many components of the Alfa Romeo have been preserved in over 50 years, so that the vehicle with the FIN AR1353719 matching numbers exist. A checkbook is not available, but it can be assumed that the currently unregistered vehicle has remained accident-free so far. After restoration, the GT 1750 Veloce is fully roadworthy and will be handed over to the new owner with the original keys and a TÜV badge valid until August 2024.

The Alfa Romeo GT is painted in the color Rosso, which has lost a little of its intensity over the years, but that is precisely why it looks particularly authentic. The stylish colour on the body designed by Bertone was completely renewed over 30 years ago and has hardly any noticeable paint damage or scratches due to the rare use. According to the seller, the paint still shines as it did after the repainting more than 30 years ago. This is due to the fact that ital. A lot of paint was applied, so that the German professional processor did not have to take into account the paint thickness and could therefore remove the top layer without the primer coming to light. No modifications were made to the GT 1750 Veloce, so that the elegant coupé with its many chrome-plated components presents itself in the style of the late 1960s.

Steel rims from Alfa Romeo are mounted on the vehicle, on which typical hubcaps of the Giulia series are attached. Falken Ziex tyres are used for locomotion, which should be replaced in the foreseeable future, while the brakes are as good as new. The complete brake system with 4 new brake calipers, master brake cylinder, brake booster, new brake lines, new brake hoses, etc. have been renewed. The chassis was overhauled, all tie rod heads and bushings were replaced with new parts and the front axle was then re-measured and adjusted. The complete front axle, as well as new shock absorbers were installed and the rear axle was rearranged.

The interior presents itself in dark colors, which harmonize very nicely with the exterior paintwork. The black "pilots" leather armchairs in the typical Alfa Romeo design have been newly integrated and the floor has been lined with dark grey carpet. The fittings shine in new splendour, in addition, the wood décor has been refurbished and the numerous chrome-plated surrounds have been polished. The stylish wooden steering wheel further enhances the historic ambience of the Alfa Romeo GTV, as well as the style-defining twin displays directly in the driver's field of vision and the classic opening windows that can be operated via a rotating mechanism. The interior was largely renewed with original parts after purchase and shows no known damage or signs of use.

The coupé was hardly in use for many years and has therefore only covered a distance of just over 107,000 kilometers. The value is easy to read on the large speedometer disc, but only partially comprehensible due to missing documents. All instruments are in very good condition and fully functional, as well as nothing is known about failure symptoms in the displays.

The Alfa Romeo GT 1750 Veloce is equipped with the original in-line four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1,779 cc, which delivers an output of 113 hp (83 KW) with two double carburetors. The engine was completely dismantled, the worn parts were replaced by new parts, the cylinder head was overhauled, and as a precaution the connecting rod bearings were replaced. The 2 Weber double carburetors were also overhauled and reinstalled with a new sealing kit. Furthermore, the water coolers with all hoses, heat exchangers with all hoses, gasoline pump with all gasoline hoses, new gasoline tank and tank sensor, new exhaust system, overhauled five-speed transmission with new 3-part clutch, clutch encoder and receiver cylinder were installed. The last service on the vehicle took place in August 2022, no defects in the engine or other technical components could be detected. The subfloor was extensively renovated, preserved and cavity sealed, so that no impairments are known in this area either.

All necessary repairs were carried out after taking over the vehicle and numerous wearing parts were replaced, so that no workshop visits have to be planned for the historic GT 1750 Veloce at the moment. According to the seller, only new parts were invested in well over 14,000.--€.
The name Alfa Romeo is inextricably linked to many sporting successes and timelessly beautiful cars, with the names Giulietta and Giulia having a special sound in the automotive world. With their timeless elegance, the vehicles are reminiscent of the sun, sea and Dolce Vita, while both models impress with their comfort and suitability for everyday use. The Giulia was the dream car of many young Italians in the 1970s and has lost none of its charm to this day. The future owner can therefore look forward to a real highlight of Italian designer art that is rarely for sale in this state of preservation.
