Vehicle description
Model History:
In 1968, the Jaguar XJ6, the last design of William Lyons, the founder of Jaguar, was proudly presented in Paris. Over the years, this car underwent a number of model upgrades, including the introduction of Series II in 1973 and Series III in 1978. Series III of the XJ model, which included the XJ6, received a styling overhaul with larger windows, a new grille, extended taillights and rubber bumpers. In addition, the carburetor was replaced with a fuel injection system, resulting in increased power and speed for the third generation. In total, nearly 120,000 examples of the Jaguar XJ6 were produced by the end of production in 1992. This impressive number illustrates the popularity and success of this vehicle, which was distinguished by its stylish looks, technical sophistication and performance.
General information about the vehicle:
The opportunity to soon call a Jaguar XJ6 4.2 your own is available in the upcoming auction. This vehicle was first registered in 1981 and subsequently imported from Switzerland to Germany. It has had three previous owners since then and has always been driven accident free. The current owner confirms that the car has so-called matching numbers, which indicates that it is in original condition. Furthermore, the vehicle has a MOT validity until May 2024 and is in roadworthy condition. However, it is currently not registered. An H license plate confirms the Jaguar's status as a classic car.
Exterior Color/Paint/Body:
The British car presents in an appealing maroon manufacturer's color and exudes a certain class. The owner states that the car is in unrestored original condition, however, it is not impossible that repainting has been done. In addition, normal signs of use due to age may be present. As can be seen in the pictures, the passenger door has a small dent. Other than that, the condition of the exterior leaves a thoroughly positive impression. No gross defects are visible or known, and the chrome elements have retained their shine over the years.
Exterior Rims/Brakes/Suspension:
The stylish Jaguar multi-spoke rims are a successful addition, giving the vehicle a special touch. According to the information available to us, new Dimax Classic tires are mounted. The owner describes the condition of the brake system as reliable and very good, estimating it at 70 to 90 percent.
There areno known modifications or defects to the suspension, so the Jaguar XJ6 4.2 appears to be in perfect condition from a technical standpoint.
Interior:
Stylish silver Jaguar door sill plates mark the entrance to the interior of the Jaguar XJ6 4.2. Inside, you can expect an elegant beige leather interior, which, according to the owner, has a natural patina. The interior is completed by a dashboard with an appealing wood look, a classic two-spoke steering wheel and a black and silver gear stick. The Jaguar also offers a wide range of features, including power steering, central locking, power windows, and cruise control. Note, however, that the radio does not work. Apart from this defect and the broken rear right window regulator, the interior presents itself in decent condition for its age, although slight signs of use and minor wear are of course not excluded, as can be seen in the pictures.
Mileage:
The odometer
of
the Jaguar XJ6 4.2 is framed by a black border and shows a reading of 81,202 km. This value can be easily tracked due to the seamlessly kept checkbook. As mentioned above, the radio and the rear left window regulator are defective. All other controls, gauges and instruments function perfectly according to the owner.
Engine:
A powerful 4.2-liter engine with 205 hp and a Bosch fuel injection system gives this British classic car its impressive performance. The power is transferred to the road via an automatic transmission. According to our information, the car was last serviced in April 2023 and is in technically immaculate condition. The current owner confirms that there are no irregularities or problems with the technology or the engine.
Underbody
:The underside of the Jaguar presents in rust-free condition, which is confirmed by the series of pictures. There are no obvious defects to be seen.
The offered Jaguar XJ6 from 1981 presents itself overall in a good condition, which is appropriate for its age. There may possibly be minor signs of use here and there, but they underline the timeless and classic look of the car. As the last masterpiece of Jaguar founder William Lyons, this classic car will surely find a place in the history books. A wonderful vehicle for collectors and enthusiasts.
