Vehicle description

The design highlight of the Volkswagen Type 1 is the Karmann-Ghia model, which was built between 1955 and 1974. In the case of the Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia, combining sporty lines with undemanding series technology was an extremely successful idea. Drawn by the Italian body cutter Ghia and built by Karmann, the somewhat more special VW customer got what he wanted with the VW Karmann-Ghia: chic look and a reliable technology package. Last but not least, the driving ladies liked the sports VW, which as a coupé and convertible produced around 450,000 units in almost 20 years of production.

A fully restored Karmann-Ghia Coupé can now be purchased at this auction. This Volkswagen, built in 1970, was registered for the first time in Denmark on December of the same year, how many owners the coupé with the chassis number BG000534 has in total is no longer known to the seller. According to the owner, the history of the vehicle is to be partially proven on the basis of various invoices and so-called MOT reports (annual test of vehicle safety, roadworthiness and exhaust emission test). The VW already has a classic car approval, the Danish TÜV runs until May 2029. Matching numbers are given according to seller information, in addition, there is still 1 set of keys to the car.

Accident-free and in good condition, the exterior of the yellow VW Karmann-Ghia presents itself according to statements of the seller. The current owner informs that this coupe was repainted years ago, the current paint condition can be classified as good, the body has no rust. All chrome décor on the vehicle is still in brilliant condition, the thick bumpers and the large turn signals are a good state of preservation. Also worth mentioning is the modification-free state.

Tyres in good shape are mounted on the original steel rims with chrome hubcaps including the VW logo. The brakes, which are still in good shape, provide deceleration, and there is apparently no deficit in terms of chassis technology.

The interior of the Karmann Ghia is almost luxurious: you can take a seat on black faux leather seats, while the view sweeps over the dashboard in body colour. The two-spoke steering wheel with chrome horn ring attacks delicately, as does the shift stick and the handbrake. There are only a few signs of wear in the interior of the coupé. Fresh air is supplied on the one hand by the rear side windows, which can be adjusted, and on the other hand by the driver and front passenger windows, which can be mechanically cranked up.

According to the seller, almost 25,220 kilometers are on the five-digit speedometer. The history of the Karmann-Ghia can be partially traced back via various cancelled inspection reports. Failures in the instrumentation of the VW are not to be lamented.

The original 1.6-litre four-cylinder boxer engine provides 48 hp of power – shifting is done via the original 4-speed manual transmission. The current owner informed us that in 2022 the last service work as well as a general review took place. Due to the good technical condition, there is no upcoming work.

Corrosion on the underside of the vehicle can not be detected, the car is obviously well equipped for the future. His beguiling lines in combination with the typical boxer sound speak for a Karmann-Ghia. This VW Karmann-Ghia from 1970 offered here will probably be a pleasure for many years to come due to its extensively restored condition. There are currently no open works to be done – the future owner can look forward to a German classic with an elegant Italian design.

Oho ! Respekt....
