Model history
The Morgan Plus 8 was presented at the London Motor Show, Earls Court, in September 1968. It attracted worldwide interest and was also well received in Germany. The light alloy eight-cylinder engine in conjunction with a reinforced Morgan frame was an interesting combination: Due to its front-end weight, a Plus 8 proved to be a strong overpricer. When the Plus 8 became available with an aluminum body instead of a steel body in 1977, it was lighter and even faster, but that was not enough: in 1990, the car was equipped with a 3.9-liter engine. Versions with 4.0-liter and 4.6-liter engines with catalytic converter and five-speed gearbox followed later.

Wenn Sie sich bei kickdown melden würden und man dort einverstanden ist, gebe ich gerne weitere Details bezüglich meines Arden bekannt. Fragen Sie doch bitte einmal nach, vielleicht wird der Kontakt ja vermittelt. Eigentlich wollte ich den Eigentümer/ die Eigentümerin des Morgan fragen, ob Interesse besteht.
Technik: Hier kommt ein besonders edler Engländer zum Verkauf! Ab 1977 ist es ein Fünfganggetriebe. Die Kupplung wird hydraulisch betätigt. Eine Besonderheit, die es beim VW Käfer bis zum August 1957 gab, ist das Gaspedal des Plus 8 mit Rolle statt Trittplatte; anfangs war außerdem über dem Gaspedal ein Knopf angebracht, der möglichst täglich zu drücken war, um eine geringe Menge Öl aus dem Kurbelgehäuse des Motors an die zu schmierenden Teile der Vorderachse zu fördern. In einem frühen Test wurde die Elastizität des Motors gelobt, außerdem die Beschleunigung des Wagens in 7,5 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h. Zur Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 201 km/h hieß es: „Bereits bei 173 km/h hatte der Testwagen den roten Bereich bei 5000 Touren auf dem Drehzahlmesser erreicht, was darauf schließen lässt, dass in Anbetracht des beschränkten Drehvermögens die Hinterachs-Übersetzung zu knapp gewählt wurde. Immerhin ist es tröstlich, dass der Morgan von der Motorleistung her gut für 200 km/h ist – fahren möchte man diese 200 nämlich nicht unbedingt. Denn schon ab 140 km/h bricht die Hölle los, und man fühlt sich in die Urzeit des Automobils versetzt.“ LG Tom
