Vehicle description

Model history:

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is a car of the luxury class, which was produced between 1955 and 1963 by the British traditional company in three generations. The vehicle replaced the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, which had been built since 1949, and was in many respects a further development of its predecessor. The striking design with its very successful lines gave the Silver Cloud its inimitable elegance, which differed markedly from the appearance of the pre-war models. The designers in Crewe additionally increased the performance and space in the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and set new standards in the luxury segment of the 1950s with improved equipment and technology. The Silver Cloud was considered a flagship of British automotive engineering and is one of the most sought-after classic car models ever, not least because of the low production figures.

General information about the vehicle:

In this auction, a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is offered, which left the factory in the county of Cheshire in 1960. The luxury model from the second generation of the "Silver Cloud" was first registered in the same year and has had only three owners in over 60 years. It arrived in Germany only more recently after many years in England, has Matching Numbers and is certified to carry H-plates. The exact history of the timelessly beautiful sedan with the VIN SWC 644 cannot be traced in detail due to the lack of a checkbook, but the luxurious automobile has in all likelihood remained accident-free and, with an MOT sticker valid until November 2023, is unrestrictedly roadworthy. The Silver Cloud II was restored to its good general condition by partial restoration and will be handed over to the future owner registered with the original keys.

Exterior color/paint/rust:

The historic Rolls-Royce Silver Clous II is painted in two colors and looks very authentic with the combination of legal red and pearl grey. The body of the luxury limousine was extensively reworked and in the course of this the paint was completely renewed, so that the vehicle presents itself in a very pleasant appearance. No dents, dings or major paint damage could be discovered during the appraisal, likewise the numerous pictures of this Silver Cloud II testify to the fact that the chrome-plated bumpers and headlight surrounds as well as the exterior mirrors mounted on the fenders are in a very well-kept condition.

Exterior Rims/Brakes/Chassis:

Mounted on the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II are steel rims, which are fitted with the typical chrome hubcaps of the traditional English company. The visually highlighted inner ring is matched to one of the two exterior colors, and the tires and brakes are in good to very good condition. The stiffened chassis with its rectangular tube construction has been left in its original condition and, like the associated components, shows no discernible defects.

Interior:

The interior has a typical British look and is dominated by the very historic looking wide leather bench seats. The beige-grey color scheme matches the exterior paint very well and was also used in the design of the side panels, while in the footwell a burgundy color, which also looks very harmonious, was used. The authentic overall appearance is further enhanced by the integrated fine wood elements and the classic three-spoke steering wheel, while the small folding tables in the rear underline the historic overall appearance of this Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. The luxurious equipment of the vehicle includes power steering, power brakes and power windows, and for nostalgic entertainment you can fall back on the radio, which is also available.

Mileage and Instruments:

The 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud has covered a total distance of 54,171 miles so far, which is just over 87,179 kilometers. This figure can be read from the speedometer display, which, like all other instruments and controls in the car, were perceived to be fully functional.

Engine:

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is equipped with an eight-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 6.2 liters producing 188 hp (138 KW). For transmission, a four-speed automatic transmission is used that allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 11 seconds and a top speed of 183 kilometers per hour. The last service on the vehicle was carried out in November 2021, during which it was found that the engine and all technical components are in very good condition.

Underbody:

The underbody of the Rolls-Royce appears to be very well maintained and has no apparent damage. Axles and exhaust system are fully intact, as well as no areas of acute corrosion could be found.

Documents:

All available documents provide information about the vehicle and its history, in addition, a valuation report was prepared, which underlines the good overall condition of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II with the grade 2.

For whom is the vehicle suitable?

Rolls Royce is a brand with world fame and with its models of the upper class a synonym for luxury and elegance. To this day, the Silver Cloud is one of the best-known vehicles of the traditional British company and is particularly predestined for lovers of the distinctive English design. The luxury sedan was produced less than 3000 times in four years and is therefore a real rarity in the color combination used for this vehicle. It is ideally suited for representational purposes, but equally meets the high expectations for longer trips.
