Vehicle description
Model history:
The typical Cadillac image - chrome and tail fins - was mainly shaped under the stylistic leadership of Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell during the 50s and 60s. During this time, road cruisers with ever larger tail fins were created and the bubbling V8 engines determined the sense of style of an entire era. The name Cadillac did not only stand for lifestyle - American presidents also liked to be chauffeured in a Cadillac. In the 1940s, versions 60, 61 and 62 formed the mainstay of the Cadillac program. The Cadillac Series 62 was on sale from 1940 to 1964 and could be ordered as a coupe, sedan and convertible.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction, a Cadillac Series 62 convertible built in 1953 is offered for auction, which was first delivered in the USA and has been in Germany since 1995. According to the seller, the Cadillac comes from only 3rd hand and has a new HU. The so-called matching numbers are assumed, further worth mentioning is a valuation report, which certifies the Series 62 convertible the condition grade 2+.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
In gray metallic, the body is kept, the seller speaks here of a great optical condition, since this convertible was only used as a fair-weather vehicle. Rust on the body can not be discovered after consultation with the current owner, in addition, all chrome elements on the car are in brilliant condition and missing parts on the exterior are not to be complained about. The white soft top of the Cadillac also impresses with its extremely good state of preservation.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
On original Cadillac chrome spoke wheels, whitewall tires with sufficient tread are mounted. Neither in the area of the brake system nor in the area of the chassis deviations from the original condition can be detected.
Interior:
Red leather can be found in the interior - here the pure zeitgeist of the 1950s is sprayed. All buttons, displays and instruments in the interior of the Cadillac have a full function according to the seller's information and the convertible top can also be operated without any problems. A modern music system - which is hidden in the original look of the radio - including modern radio (which is housed in the glove compartment so as not to disturb the original look), ensures good sound in the interior. In addition to electrically adjustable seats and power windows, the roof can also be operated electrically and hydraulically. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the other photos.
Mileage
Converted into mileage, the car has only 19,500 kilometers on the speedometer according to the seller. All indicators integrated in the dashboard work perfectly.
Engine
190 hp draws the 5.4-liter V8 engine of this Cadillac Series 62 housed in the bow - via a 3-speed automatic transmission, the power of the V8 is brought to the road via the rear wheels. The seller mentions that the transmission shifts smoothly and the engine has power as on the first day and shows no signs of aging.
Subsoil:
Inconsistencies on the underbody can apparently not be found, since the underside of the Cadillac is obviously in good condition. If you want to experience the pure lifestyle and driving style of the American 1950s up close, a ride in this Cadillac Series 62 is recommended: The seller describes this convertible very well as a "luxury yacht for the road".
