Model history
When Porsche presented the 911 Targa at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in the fall of 1965, hardly anyone suspected that this model designation would become a permanent fixture in Porsche history. Until 1967, the rear window of the original version of the Targa was not made of safety glass, but of an opening soft window with a flexible plastic pane. Only then was a glass pane used. From 1973, the Targa was also available in the so-called G-model alongside the classic Coupé.
