Vehicle description
Model history:
The Opel Kapitän has been around since the 1930s: Until 1970, it was offered in a wide variety of designs and revisions - as was the case in 1959, when a new Kapitän appeared, which had a new body and flatter lines with an even larger panoramic window at the front than its predecessor. This - built from 1959 to 1963 - called P 2 2.6 - became the most successful of Opel's Kapitän series. As the model name suggested, a 2.6-liter engine did its job in the front of the car. In total, Opel produced just over 145,600 units of the Kapitän P2 2.6.
General information about the vehicle:
In this auction, an Opel Kapitän P2 2.6 from first registration 08/1962 comes up for auction, which comes from long-standing Danish ownership and has the chassis number 210570503. According to the seller, this four-door sedan still has a set of keys, a classic car registration and a Danish inspection that is valid until July 2027. Based on various documents such as invoices, inspection certificates and receipts from recent years, the history of this Opel can be approximately traced, according to the seller. The so-called matching numbers are given in full.
Exterior paint/paint/body:
In addition to the design, the green paint color makes this Opel an absolute eye-catcher: A complete paint job has already been carried out over the years, and the current owner of the car can completely rule out an accident. According to the seller, there are no visual modifications deviating from the original condition - the body is in good condition considering the age of the vehicle and all chrome add-on parts also have a shiny appearance. For more details regarding the exterior, please take a look at the other photos and videos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
On original Opel steel rims with chrome hubcaps, Michelin tires are mounted, which should still be in good condition after consultation with the seller. According to the current owner, the brakes are also in good condition. There are no major defects in the chassis.
Interior:
With the exception of normal signs of wear and tear that have developed over the years, there are no inconsistencies in the interior that could tarnish the state of preservation, which has been maintained on the whole. As an equipment feature, the interior of this Opel Kapitän P2 2.6 includes an original Blaupunkt radio. All lamps, displays, instruments, as well as controls have a problem-free function after consultation with the seller and the fabric seats are equipped with covers. For a detailed overview of the interior and the equipment features in it, we refer to the other photos.
Mileage:
On the tape speedometer in the instrument cluster of the Opel Kapitän, a mileage of 7,360 kilometers can be read. Based on various documents, the history of this Opel can be traced back approximately, according to the current owner.
Engine:
The 2.6-liter in-line six-cylinder engine of this Kapitän produces 99 hp - the power is transmitted by means of a 4-speed manual transmission, which also has a so-called overdrive. According to the seller, the last service work and a technical inspection took place in 2023.
Subsoil:
In view of the vehicle age of now over 60 years, the underbody can be said to be a solid and healthy substance. An Opel Kapitän of the late 1950s and early 1960s offers above all a lot of grille and a lot of chrome - and its look is also cult. The green paintwork of the captain offered for auction in this auction causes a sensation in addition to the many chrome accents on the exterior. Plenty of space in the interior and the sound of the in-line six-cylinder engine also provide enthusiasm.
