Vehicle description
Model history:
Since 1953, Chevrolet has been building the only two-seater American mass-produced sports car without interruption. The third generation (called C3) offered from 1967 to 1982 became famous among other things for its body with the typical fender swings and the long, forward-flattened hood. Up to 7.4-liters of displacement had the C3 - more displacement, there was neither before nor after in Corvette history. With 15 years of production, the Chevrolet Corvette C3 is also considered the longest built Corvette generation, a total of around 543,000 copies were produced.
General information about the vehicle:
A Corvette of the 3rd generation built in 1969 is now available for auction in this auction: This C3 - which was imported from the USA and has only 2 holders - is, according to the seller, a vehicle with matching numbers, which was imported to Germany. According to the seller, the car was restored 12 years ago in the frame-off process. Unfortunately, there is no exact history of the vehicle, but this Corvette is already registered and the American sports car is already in possession of an H-approval. The most recently completed main inspection is valid until April 2023.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
In the course of the upcoming sale, a complete repainting of the Corvette C3 in black was also carried out. The body of this American sports car, the seller certifies a good, albeit overlooked with a few traces of use - an accident in the current possession he can completely exclude. All attachments and trim elements on the car are apparently preserved in complete condition and the chrome on the vehicle still shines as it should. Particularly striking on the exterior are the sidepipes: According to the seller, these are original and have an entry.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
Tyres with apparently sufficient tread - the current owner attests to them a condition of 50-70% - are mounted on original Corvette rims. The current owner of this C3 certifies a condition assessment of 70-90% of the brakes. In the area of the chassis, obviously no inconsistencies can be enumerated that could cloud the generally good condition.
Interior:
The interior with its imitation leather seats is as black as the exterior: apart from a few chrome accents in the interior, there are no colour games here. The two halves of the roof of the vehicle can be removed: This creates a kind of targa roof with a fixed central bar. In addition to the 3-spoke sports steering wheel, there is also an original Corvette radio on board this C3. All other equipment features as well as the exact condition of the interior can be found in the many detailed pictures of this vehicle.
Mileage
Deeply embedded in the dashboard are the 2 round instruments in the driver's cockpit: After consultation with the seller, he states that the Corvette C3 has reeled off a total of 80,754 miles.
Engine
The Corvette C3 delivers a whopping 400 hp - this power is transmitted to the rear axle via a 4-speed manual transmission. In December 2022, the C3 underwent a final service. Engine and gearbox were revised in the course of the frame-off restoration.
Subsoil:
The current owner of the Corvette describes the condition of the underbody as rustproof. This look in the Coke bottle design, the American flair, as soon as you get into the car and of course displacement and performance full characterize a Corvette of the 3rd generation. With this model offered here, the future owner secures a piece of American automotive history. In addition, this Corvette C3 from 1969 is a manual specimen, which not only optically makes performance with its mounted sidepipes, but also has this externally assumed power under the hood.

Comments of this past auction
