Vehicle description
The Jaguar XK was one of the fastest production cars in the world in 1948! The XK 120 model with its 3.4-liter twin cam engine was already capable of almost 200 km/h at the time. Jaguar produced the XK 120, 140 and 150 models, each with three body variants: Roadster (OTS), Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) or Drop Head Coupé (DHC) with folding top and crank windows. There were also various engine variants. By 1961, a total of over 30,000 Jaguar XKs had been built. The 3.4-liter Jaguar in-line six-cylinder is probably one of the best engines of all time; it proved to be so successful that the Jaguar engines of the next 40 years were based on it: It was refined and produced again and again until 1992.
In this auction, you have the opportunity to secure an XK 140 DHC built in 1956. This Jaguar with chassis number A819054 is an import vehicle and, according to the seller, has a total of 4 owners. The so-called matching numbers are assumed, an exact history of this XK 140 is no longer available. The XK 140 is registered with an H license plate and the last completed main inspection is still valid until July 2023.
Externally, this Jaguar XK 140 DHC is kept in the color red, over the years, after consultation with the current owner, a repainting of the car has already taken place. The condition of the bodywork is above average for the age of the XK 140, and the owner refers to the accident-free condition of the car in its current ownership. All the chrome trim on the car shines as it should and apparently no decorative elements are missing from the bodywork. As this modification-free Jaguar XK 140 is a so-called Drop Head Coupé, it also has a folding roof, which in this case is black and shows no signs of damage.
Vredestein tires are mounted on original chrome-spoked wheels - according to the seller, the tires are still 70-90% of their new condition. The brakes on this Jaguar are also 70-90% of their original condition. In terms of the chassis, there are obviously no defects that could spoil the good overall impression of the XK 140.
In the Jaguar's interior, the black leather seats impress with their crack-free condition and the instrument panel - which is made of wood - impresses with the smooth functioning of the displays. The crank windows do their job without any problems and the steering wheel, handbrake lever and gearshift are also in clean condition. All in all, the interior of the XK 140 has no faults and all materials are in good condition. The soft top mechanism is fully functional - the folding top can be opened and closed without any problems. A tarpaulin is available.
On the beautiful instrument panel of this Jaguar, a mileage of 4,055 kilometers can be read off the speedometer on the 5-digit speedometer. All the displays and controls inside the XK 140 work perfectly.
This Jaguar is shifted via a 4-speed manual gearbox, the XK 140 is powered by a 3.4-liter in-line six-cylinder twin-camshaft engine with 190 hp. The last service was carried out in 2021, according to the seller, there are no known defects in the drivetrain.
The underbody of this Jaguar is rust-free and sealed with cavity protection - no inconsistencies can be detected on the underside of the XK 140.
A Jaguar XK 140 represents the legendary evolution of the sporty XK 120. A powerful six-cylinder engine, a shapely silhouette and the stylish interior are just a few aspects of this XK 140 DHC on offer here, which also offers pure British roadster fun for discerning tastes.
