Model history

The model history of the IFA F8 from 1954 is closely linked to the post-war period in the GDR. The F8 was originally a pre-war model from DKW, which was continued by IFA after 1945. A particularly striking feature of the F8 was the two-stroke engine with a displacement of 684 cm³, which made the vehicle quite reliable despite its low power output. A special feature of the vehicle was the bodywork, which was still partly made of wood, which was unusual in the automotive world at the time. The F8 was offered as a saloon and convertible and was considered one of the few affordable cars in the GDR. Despite its simple design, it was popular due to its robustness and durability.

LG Tom
