Vehicle description
Model history:
The VW Golf I was followed by the Volkswagen Golf II, which was built from 1983 to 1992 and reached a production figure of around 6.3 million units over the entire production period. The Golf II had visibly grown in size, even though it initially still carried the proven technology under its sheet metal. With the replacement of the Golf II by the Golf III, which was produced from 1991 onwards, a six-cylinder engine (VR6) was introduced to the market for the first time in a compact car. As the VR6 engines offered a good basis for performance increases, many models were modified and at the same time a "tuning wave" started with the VR6 engine, in which these engines were trimmed to sometimes impressive performance increases by means of turbochargers or superchargers. Also the installation of this VR6 engine in the body of the Golf II was not a rarity.
