Vehicle description
Model history:
With the MGA, MG ushered in modern automotive times after the TF. The Roadster was characterized by the greatest simplicity, but also by its attractiveness. MG designer Syd Enever drew his streamlined body. Of the more than 100,000 units produced between 1952 and 1962, only about 6,000 units remained in England, according to research, which speaks for the conservatism of the British or for the European and American love of English cars at the time. A 1.5-liter, 69hp B-Series four-cylinder engine was the first engine to eventually give way to the 1600, which delivered 81 hp. With an unladen weight of just over 900 kilograms, the engine power generally provides plenty of driving pleasure, the MGA also proved itself in motorsport up to the Mille Miglia.
General information about the vehicle:
An MG MGA 1600 Roadster from 1960 is now offered for auction in this auction. This car bears the chassis number 77441 and was imported from Italy - only 2 owners should have the roadster according to statements of the seller. Although there is no exact history, the current holder assumes the so-called matching numbers. The HU runs until May 2023, the MG is already in possession of an H approval.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
After consultation with the seller, he states that the body of the MGA 1600 presents itself in a completely repaint-free condition and accordingly shows slight traces of use - which have arisen over the years. Gross damage or modifications deviating from the original condition are apparently not objectionable on the exterior, furthermore, all chrome trim elements on the roadster are obviously well preserved. The black fabric hood is crack-free - even the plastic discs in the hood have no cracks. For more details, please have a look at the other photos and videos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
According to the seller, the tires, which are mounted on original chrome spoke wheels, are new. In the area of the brake system, the current owner estimates the condition at 70-90%, chassis technology according to him no inconsistencies can be listed.
Interior:
Although the dark red leather seats of this 1600 MGA are somewhat patinated, but according to the owner, no damage can be pronounced and the entire interior should have its original condition. In addition to a contemporary radio, there is also a cigarette lighter on board this MGA. The hood can be opened and closed without major problems - a corresponding tarpaulin is available and is given. In order to get a precise overview of the various equipment features as well as the detailed condition of the interior, we refer to the telling series of pictures.
Mileage:
On the left the rev counter, on the right the speedometer - the classic round instruments in the driver's field of vision are framed in chrome and the roadster has a mileage of 32,045 kilometres after a return with the seller. All indicators in the dashboard are fully functional.
Engine:
The 1.6-liter in-line four-cylinder engine of this MGA 1600 delivers 72 hp, shifted via a 4-speed manual transmission, which delivers the power to the rear wheels of the roadster. The car underwent a final service in May 2023. Furthermore, the seller mentions that the ignition and carburetor system at the company IOZ in Mühlheim-Kärlich and the cooling system at the company Dommermuth in Mühlheim-Kärlich have been revised.
Subsoil:
The seller describes the condition of the underbody as rustproof and unwelded - inconsistencies are not to be found on the underside of the roadster, according to him. The MGA 1600 Roadster offered here comes from only 2nd hand, has a classic color combination and an honest overall condition. If you like an iconic British roadster of the 1950s or 1960s, you should take a closer look at this MGA.

Letzter Service Mai 23? 👏😃
