Model history
In addition to the cars of the new class, BMW had created a new coupé series: First there was the 2000C or CS - which had a fashionable look with its flared hip line emphasized by a chrome strip. However, it was only available with a four-cylinder engine. The successors, known as the E9 series, were given more power and thus more sporting flair, primarily through the installation of new six-cylinder engines. These BMW coupés also caused a sensation in motorsport in particular: developed as a racing sports car for the European Touring Car Championship, the BMW 3.0 CSL was the most powerful rival to the Ford Capri racing versions. The three letters stood for Coupé, Sport and Lightweight.

Questions and Comments
